Hi Marissa Shireen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi! Well, when I was pregnant with my oldest son 10 years ago, I learned about placenta encapsulation and the benefits from a moms group. I hired a local woman to provide the service, and she mentioned that there were not many providers in the area. I looked online and was very fortunate to find a hands-on training course that I could take.
Once I became certified, I started my business and I’ve been doing it for 10 years! I started in San Diego then transferred the business to Savannah. We now operate in numerous cities all over the country! We offer a lot more products than most providers, including tinctures made with the placenta, salve skin balm made with placenta powder, smoothie cubes, lactation cookies, placenta prints and watercolor prints, and even placenta truffles! We also offer flavored capsules and our exclusive Skittles flavor option that includes a mix of capsule flavors! I now have 7 ladies working under me! 🙂
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It can be hard for one because there are some months where there are not many babies being born and it can be slow. In addition, it can be hard because sometimes the hospitals or doctors will refuse to release the placenta to the mama so not only do we lose the client, but it’s sad for the mama.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I guess you can say we specialize in offering so many products and packages! We allow the moms to order just encapsulation to help keep the cost affordable, or to order a package if she wants the most use of her placenta. We are known for being very prompt and reliable, even for mamas that call us last minute. We have great prices and have excellent customer service. My partner Ansley is great at placenta prints and she researches different methods to make it as beautiful as possible.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Ha, well Corona certainly has helped our business with all the Corona babies’ births!! We’ve been extremely busy for a solid 7 months straight. It really has been a blessing to me and all my girls that work for me. In July 2021 alone, we had almost 40 clients deliver!!
