Hi More, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Originally from St. Louis Missouri, I am a Jack of all trades from a mother, wife, radio personality, host, artist manager, talent scout, public speaker, influencer, and more.
Being on the radio and in entertainment has been my dream since I was a child. I can remember back to before high school age, I was telling my mom that I wanted to be on the radio, and I could literally hear my voice on-air.
I started a radio show called Gumbo Radio Show which is intended to provide our viewers and listeners with resources nationwide independent brand by incorporating round table-talk discussions with independent businesses from all over the world, providing the owners with an opportunity to feature their products and services live or in a virtual environment.
We will also provide a platform for up-and-coming artists (underground music), to market and promote new music from underground and underrated artists globally as well as offer artists development and management tips and in addition, allow emerging producers to submit beat snippets as well as host beat competitions for exposure and critique.
All in one year we have transitioned from radio to a podcast show and mobile user-friendly app. www.thegumboshowpodcast.com
In summary, our goal is to provide exposure to any independent entrepreneurs working to build their brand, as well as play mixes of independent and underground artists and provide our viewers with valuable resources and mix in the pot some HOT Segments. Currently, we are working on a series of events throughout the Metro Atlanta area, actively hosting events and much more.
I am finally loving what I do every day. Helping others promote and broadcast their talents and networking and connecting people together. That is definitely a part of my purpose!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road for myself or my team. We have had a lot of bumps, lost a lot of people, and came out of a lot of money to get to where we are currently. Some days are better than others, some showcases and events are better than others. We have had to learn to continue to be consistent and drop a lot of content and continue to be genuine and help as many people as we can with promoting their product, brand, or talent.

In my career, I started a radio show which since has transformed into its own movement. We also host several events in the city both profit and nonprofit and we have our own app that combines talent, music, businesses, and more for promo.

The primary mission of the Gumbo Show Movement is to provide our viewers, listeners, supporters, followers, and fans with resources, access nationwide. Independent creatives that are seeking a diverse platform to promote and showcase their talents from. The problem that we are solving is the lack of cost-efficient support, media, and promotional/marketing needs in our local and nationwide communities. We are changing the narrative with our show and offering ALL individuals a media home that is comfortable, engaging, and interactive.
We shine positive lights on ALL of our guests and offer them ongoing support and assistance outside of interviews through business development services as well as artist’s development, content creation, video, and audio footage, and photoshoots as needed on their independent journey.
So why “Gumbo” right? The idea of Gumbo is a bunch of diverse but amazing things combined to create an amazing flavor. Our show provides a forum for up-and-coming artists of all music genres, businesses seeking exposure, comedians, therapist, models, actors/actresses, public figures, teachers, and more to market to promote their projects. Businesses to run ads/commercials as well as attend pop-up shops and other business-related events, producers that need artists to showcase their beats, promoters and other podcasts/radio shows, and independent media personalities.
We are bridging the gap in MEDIA and HIP-HOP and also making it cool to work together and collaborate. We are one of the first shows to interview and bring other shows onto our show to promote them. We stand for UNITY and EVOLUTION we need to grow and not be afraid to talk to each other and open up and tell each other our interests and ventures. That is how growth is developed.
In summary, our goal is to provide exposure to any independent entrepreneur, brand, or platform working to expose their creative abilities. The GUMBO Movement does all this and more by incorporating round table-talk discussions with independent businesses from all over the world, providing the owners with an opportunity to feature their products and services live or in a virtual environment. In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The media and entertainment industry changes daily. Our entire team is involved in the industry in our own lane so we all are giving ourselves and each other the opportunity to elevate and grow continuously in this industry.
