Conversations with Jamie Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Brown.

Hi Jamie, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Born and raised on the Jersey Shore, I’ve been playing music for 20 years. Needing 1 credit to graduate college, I took a guitar class and the rest is history. This Summer, my family packed our bags and moved to Low Country permanently. I’m more than excited to be a part of such an incredible music scene that replicates a lot of what I was a part of in New Jersey. All the bars, hotels, and resorts I’m a part of have incredible staff and loyal local followings that make each gig something to look forward to! I was fortunate to connect with solid industry folks like Doug Marshall & Stratus Entertainment who made my transition into the SC music scene seem less.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Playing music is never easy; each show, venue, and crowd is different- but that’s the beauty of each gig. It was tough when I first got started, being 21, I was always the youngest on the music scene along the Shore, so I had to earn my respect. I learned from a lot of great people how to always be professional. That has definitely gotten me to this point and even earned me a solid following already in Low Country. Most importantly, my beautiful wife and daughter teach me to be humble and grateful and see each day as a blessing because I have them.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a solo acoustic musician, I’ve played every type of event- from Weddings, Cocktail Hours, Birthdays, Bars & Backyards. I pride myself on being an acoustic DJ of sorts. I play all the favorites, from Country to Classic, Rock to Reggae, 1 Hit Wonders, Hip Hop & even Theme Songs. What crowds and bar owners appreciate is my original spin on each song and ability to create unique acoustic mashups live “in the moment” never sounding like the jukebox version. My style, sound, and overall vibe on stage is “Margaritaville meets No Shoes Nation.” Based on where we are, it doesn’t get any better. Whether a bride, bar or backyard, I want the audience to feel like it’s 5 O’clock and have no worries.

I am available for any all-private event and love creating the perfect soundtrack to your special day!

What were you like growing up?
I’ve always loved music and grew up appreciating every single type of genre to some extent. Being eclectic in listening has taught me to be innovative on stage and take risks with song selection, especially mashups. My playings’ like my personality- laid back and easy going. I’ve always loved the stage and enjoy being front and center. But I still get nervous before every show, until that first song is over and I know I am where I’m supposed to be professionally.
