Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Barefoot.
Hi Christine, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I’ve always had a passion for photography and documenting memories since I was a kid. I was literally carrying a camera everywhere I went. Growing up and getting older brought special milestones with it, including friends and family getting married or having children. I was there for it, always taking my camera with me taking photos when I could. It was something I enjoyed, and I always felt most like myself when I was holding a camera in my hand.
In college, I contemplated majoring in photography, and even did for a little while – however, the timing wasn’t right for me and I decided to take a different path. Fast forward to adulthood, when I was living in New York State and working in mental health services. I loved what I did, but something felt like it was missing, and during this time I rediscovered my love for photography. What seemed like nothing but a pipedream for most of my life, began to turn into a reality as I established Barefoot Royalty Photography as a part-time side gig.
While I loved working in mental health, I continued to dream of going full-time with my photography business. In 2019, my husband and I decided we’d had enough of northern winters and made the decision to move to a warmer climate. I also took this opportunity to make my dream happen and make photography my full-time career.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Making any dream a reality is a challenge. There is always the fear standing in the way at the very beginning which makes a person doubt the possibility of their own success. It took me a while to convince myself to begin taking paying clients or to leave my job and transition to full-time because of that fear and self-doubt.
On top of that, moving to Georgia from New York was like beginning from scratch all over again. It took me a few months to get started after moving down here because of my self-doubt. Then, once things were getting off the ground and I started to feel like I was getting momentum, Covid-19 hit and that was a huge roadblock.
It affected so many small business owners and even larger businesses in a huge way. My business wasn’t essential, so about six months or so went by without being able to conduct business. It’s definitely been a journey, but I am loving every moment of it. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Barefoot Royalty Photography LLC?
