Today we’d like to introduce you to Magnolia Minxxx.
Hi Magnolia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I started out doing burlesque a couple of years before I got with The Savannah Sweet Tease actually. I had performed locally at a show produced by Rita D’ Lavane, another fellow troupe member I produce all POC shows with, at an eatery that used to be on Broughton street, called Tantra. I got on stage the first time and fell in love. I got with SST in 2013 and since then have developed from not just performing to producing, traveling/touring, and winning awards along the way.
Magnolia Minxxx | This burly bombshell hit the scene with The Savannah Sweet Tease Burlesque Revue when they began in 2013. She tours with her troupe performs at festivals, produces all kinds of shows, including all POC, and took the home crown as the winner of the very 1st Edition of 1,2,3, TEASE!” She was awarded “The Cyclone” Award from RedBone herself in 2018 at Discordia Days & was crowned with “The Golden Smile” Award at GLCC 2018 and the Golden Edge Award in 2020.
She’s a classy, sassy, sexy cool curly bombshell with a taste of twisted melanin magic that earned her all three X’s in her name.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Just like anything else, there are bumps along the way, lessons learned, and good/bad days, but overall the entirety of the experiences I’ve had and those in yet to have are always exciting. I’m always looking forward to the next show, production, act concept, choreography, etc.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
There are MANY things I’m proud of with my art in burlesque, but the most rewarding element has to be the work I am able to do when producing. I mainly produce fundraiser shows that help local small businesses and all POC shows, giving POC performers a platform to show their talents off.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
When you “mess up” on stage, there’s no need to show it! You might know you skipped a step or forgot your choreography for a moment, but the audience DOES NOT! Play it off and keep it moving.
