Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Nguyen.
Hi Chris, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello, my name is Chris Nguyen. It all began when I was 13 years old. Growing up, my family owned a nail salon. Having been around this type of beauty industry for most of my adolescent years, I didn’t want to follow in the “family footsteps.” I left my home hoping to get away from that type of business.
After moving from city to city, a good friend of mine bought into a salon. However, not knowing any English he hired me to help him with the business side of the salon. From there, I started with small steps. At first, I was a receptionist… answering phone calls, assisting clients who came in for services, and booking appointments. It wasn’t until a client friend of mine requested me to do her nail service that I began my hands-on experience. I worked 15 years for my friend running the salon, building a client base, and managing it like it was my own.
In 2016, I moved back to Savannah, GA, and purchased Snazzy Nail Bar. With the experience and business knowledge I learned while working for my friend, I researched the demographics around Savannah, closed Snazzy Nail Bar and renamed it to Snazzy Nail Lounge, and gave the salon a brand new image. Then, with the motivation of our amazing clientele, I remodeled and re-imaged Snazzy Nail Lounge again to be bigger and better.
I wanted to give the clients a truly luxurious salon experience. As I continued to have the drive and motivation to grow as an entrepreneur, I began a new journey in the beauty industry and opened LAX Luxury Wax Lounge in Pooler, GA. This upscale wax lounge will celebrate its 1 year anniversary this month.
As I continue to want to grow as a business owner and entrepreneur, I am always looking for new opportunities to expand my portfolio. I am currently breaking ground on a third business. I also have several other projects in the making that will help improve the business and managing side of the beauty industry.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every road is a struggle, especially when you are opening a new business. There is no smooth path when you are taking chances. One of the struggles I face is working full-time as a technician while being an owner of multiple businesses.
I’m always working and always meeting, so finding that balance between personal and business life can be a struggle at times.

Both businesses cater to the beauty industry. Snazzy Nail Lounge is an upscale luxury salon that specializes in custom nail services. We specialize in custom nails and nail art. We also offer a variety of manicures and pedicures to ease stress and help our clients relax and unwind.
Our customer service, attention to detail, and highly trained technicians are what sets Snazzy Nail Lounge apart from other nail salons. Snazzy Nail Lounge was voted “Best Nail Salon of 2021” by the Savannah Awards Program. We are also honored to be listed as one of the Top 3 nail salons in Savannah by ThreeBestRated.com. Snazzy Nail Lounge has recently been nominated for “Best of Georgia” in the Beauty and Spa category.
LAX is an upscale wax and facial lounge. We specialize in high-end medical facials, laser treatment, and full body wax. We will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary (11/2/2021) this month. We have had a successful first year! Our goal is to continue to grow our clientele and continue to improve our products and services.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking?
Taking over any existing business or opening a new business is always a big risk. However, before opening any new business or becoming a business partner, I always do my research. I spend countless hours studying demographics and pouring over business plans.
I go into these risks already knowing the background of each business and I feel that gives me an upper hand to be successful.
