Meet Jefferson Graham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jefferson Graham.

Hi Jefferson, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I left USA TODAY in January 2021 after a multi-decade career as a multi-media journalist to follow my passion for travel photography. My Photowalks series, which brings viewers to iconic places in search of the best photo spots, started its second season in October with an episode based in Savannah.

How did I got started? I moved to Los Angeles with the dream of being a photographer, couldn’t find much work, and switched to writing. Within a few months, I got hired at a local newspaper, switched to The Hollywood Reporter and Entertainment Tonight, and then USA TODAY shortly after it started. I originally covered TV and movies, then switched to tech in 2000. While on the tech beat, I started a video series, “Talking Tech,” and a podcast of the same name, and did the photography for all my stories.

Photowalks have taken me all over, from Japan and Portugal to Hawaii, New Mexico, Washington state, Oregon, Las Vegas, and Zion National Park.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been pretty charmed. I somehow wrote nine books while holding down a newspaper job, and 15 years of weekend photography work. Everything was learned on the job.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My specialty is travel photography for the Photowalks series, which is produced as a one-man-band. I host the show, shoot all the videos and get the photos. The challenge is getting great photos, while also producing stellar videos.

What sets me apart is my approach to a travel video show. I love having other voices in there and not just saying, “I went to Savannah and had such a great time!” I love to hear about areas from the locals.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
