Meet Stacy King

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy King.

Hi Stacy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My husband and I love to entertain and I always have charcuterie boards for my friends to enjoy while hosting get-togethers. One day, I had a friend casually say you need to start your own business doing charcuterie boards. I laughed thinking yeah, ok, then she kept talking seriously about it.

Well, that got me thinking. Can I actually turn something I love to do into a business? Yes! Yes, I can! Shortly after that conversation, I started Southern Charcuterie! It’s been a little over a year now and I’m pleasantly surprised and overwhelmed with gratitude that I’ve been successful in such a short amount of time.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I owned a retail business years ago, so I was prepared for it to start slow and to not be so discouraged. I’ve had a few moments of twiddling my thumbs praying for an order, but thankfully it’s been pretty easy. As far as building a charcuterie board, quantities to use and finding good, quality products took some time. I also had to stand out as far as packaging goes.

I wanted people to recognize a Southern Charcuterie box/board from a mile away and I’m pleased that I’ve done that. It’s such a niche and something different that people are excited about it! I offer a unique gift, I can make hosting super easy for the entertainer and the best part is I deliver.

So convenience is something that people really love. It also helps that charcuterie is kind of a thing right now! It’s new, fresh, convenient, and a lot of times has a wow factor that people get excited about.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Southern Charcuterie has been in business for 14 months. I specialize in creating charcuterie boards and boxes that include artisan cheeses, cured meats, fruit, nuts, dips, veggies, crackers, honey, jams, mustards, and chocolates garnished with fresh flowers and herbs. I offer custom creations as well per request.

What sets me apart from others is my presentation. I prefer to use real charcuterie boards, glassware, and utensils. The customer gets to keep all of this as well. So, when a board is delivered it’s ready to serve and looks like the host made it. Branding is also something that sets me apart. My logo was very thought out and embodies the name. My logo is a blue hydrangea which is my favorite flower, but also very southern which is where the name, Southern Charcuterie came from. I use beautiful ribbon to complete the package, so when the customer receives it, they are receiving a beautiful gift.

My black and white buffalo plaid signature ribbon tops off the package beautifully and something people now recognize as Southern Charcuterie. I like to use holiday ribbon for specific holidays, but with a beautiful big bow people still recognize it as Southern Charcuterie which makes me happy. Southern Charcuterie not only offers a unique, delicious, amazing quality, and beautiful charcuterie boards and boxes. I also offer a delivery option. I deliver in Richmond Hill for free and all Savannah areas, Guyton, Rincon, Port Wentworth, Midway, and often Brunswick and St Simons Island for a $15 charge.

Offering a delivery option is a game-changer. People live busy lives and are looking for convenience and I offer that. I deliver a lot for birthdays, teacher gifts directly to the school, get wells, anniversaries, thank you’s, date nights, I deliver a lot downtown for bachelorette and wedding parties staying in Airbnb’s or hotels. They love having a charcuterie board the afternoon they arrive. I deliver it directly to them… so it’s easy and convenient. My corporate clients love giving charcuterie boxes to their clients for Christmas.

It’s very easy, they place their order and I deliver them individually to the customer. So, it’s an easy, ideal, convenient service that I am happy to offer. The most important thing I would want people to know is that it brings me so much joy to create something amazing, beautiful, and delicious for any occasion big or small.

Entertaining has always been a huge part of my life, as a child and now as an adult. Our home has always been the gathering place. Anytime people want to gather with friends and loved ones is a special time and when I can be a small part of that, it is truly a blessing.
