Conversations with Gena Wright

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gena Wright.

Hi Gena, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey started out of the poor inner-city of Atlanta, GA. Determined to see what the world had to offer; I relocated to Savannah, GA to study at Savannah State University where I obtained my B.B.A. in Marketing (2001).

After graduation, I pursued a career in the banking industry. After 13 years, I ended my career as a VP of one of the world’s largest banking institutions. I entered the aviation sector for about 6 years as a Senior Business Analyst. My financial background lead me to explore world of real estate. This is where my passion met my purpose. Real estate was as natural as putting on a glove, it was the perfect career fit for me.

My experience encompassed customer service, sales, finance, and leadership. I get to use every drop of my knowledge and experience to help people to achieve their goals. The best part, I get to share this amazing journey with my loving husband of 17 years, CMSGT., Isaac Wright. Isaac recently retired from the U.S. Air Force after 33 years of service and brings a wealth of experience to support the Wright Home Team. Only five years in the real estate industry and we’re still learning and soaring. God continues to grow our business with the help of awesome family and friends.

Achievements include but are not limited to; Diamond Realtor for 4 consecutive years and Distinguished Sales Society Recipient for 4 consecutive years. I’m just a serial entrepreneur running to pass the baton to generations to come. I’m enjoying every interaction and embracing each minute of this beautiful thing called life.

Can’t say I ever had a specific plan, but I wasn’t afraid of opportunity. My mother always said, “Nothing beats a Failure but a Try”. Guess I’ll keep on trying because failure is not an option.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has certainly had challenges. However, I’ve been fortunate to meet people who helped buffer the bumpy road. I’ve been new to an industry many times but entering the real estate sector was a different type of new for me. The corporate world typically provides hands-on training, set work hours, and even a fixed income. Stepping into real estate wasn’t as pretty as closing day photos.

It’s a very rewarding career but not without hard work, dedication, and a commitment to truly serve others. It has taken many late days and nights to cultivate business as an independent contractor. Real estate feels much like an individual sport in some ways. Your results depend on self-accountability and personal performance.

I’m grateful to work with an exceptional broker, Sabriya Scott, and the awesome Scott Realty Professionals team. I remember needing help as a new agent. I vowed to always be a helping hand to others. Challenges always exist, it’s just important to connect and focus on those who support you.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a licensed GA Realtor. I help buyers and sellers achieve their home goals. Buying or selling a home is more than just a transaction: it’s a life-changing experience. As a highly-seasoned real estate professional, I’m dedicated to providing exceptional and personalized service to each client.

Over 18 years of combined experience in real estate, banking, and customer service. I take great pride in building relationships and always work relentlessly on the client’s behalf to help them achieve their real estate goals.

I’m most proud of the trust earned from our community who supports and allows us to continue serving. As a veteran’s wife, I especially enjoy serving our military and local community heroes.

What matters most to you? Why?
Hands down, family matters most to me. I could not have a successful career without my supportive family. I believe in building healthy relationships and it starts at the home front.

I’m very appreciative of my husband and two children, Jalen and Caasi, who motivates me to go a little further. My mother is my biggest cheerleader and keeps me grounded.

My family extends beyond blood and I’m extremely grateful for the role each person plays in my life.
