Rising Stars: Meet Ramon Winters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ramon Winters.

Hi Ramon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve had an interest in acting since I can remember. maybe around 5 or 6 years old. Every since I realized what was actually going on on T.V and movies. It blew me away to know that the people who we were watching on T.V were acting out these scenarios…to entertain us. I’d seen Firemen doing their thing, doctors at work…you name it. But, nothing sparked my interest or compared to what these performers were doing.

I mentioned it a time or two to family and people around, but it was a far-fetched idea and There wasn’t that type of opportunity where I’m from at the time. You had to be in L.A or New York it seemed. So, I started acting out scenes from Film and T.V and recording myself on little tape recorders.

Although, the desire to be an actor never left, I also had a fascination with Dentistry. So, I got involved in it(dentistry) for about 7 years and loved it. I still love it. However, I decided to move to Savannah in 2019 and give Acting a shot. I did some background work, learned set etiquette, met a few people who were also involved in acting. It all seemed not so far-fetched at this point. I decided to take acting classes and go all-in with it. I never looked back from that point. I am now a full-time Actor/Producer.

Ironically, the only time the world seems real to me is when I’m on a set…Acting.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

The road, so far has not been smooth. Nor has it been all rough either. But, God’s Grace, Mercy and Favor has been with me throughout the entire journey(which is far from over by the way)!

I’ve had a great deal of struggles. However, Most (if not all) of my struggles have been caused by Me… Myself. I’ve made some terrible decisions and a whole lot of mistakes that caused setbacks and struggles along the way. Foolish financial decisions, poor relationship/friendship choices and destructive habits(to name a few). That’s what makes the journey so dope. I’m blessed to have made those mistakes early on. They were part of the growth process. they helped make me who I am now. I still struggle with those issues from time-to-time. In fact, There will always be struggles along the way. I just handle them with a positive attitude, adjust and rectify and it all works out. Most struggles and setbacks come with an opportunity for a self-check. Also, Obstacles, Challenges and struggles, ironically, let me know I’m on the right track. They serve as preparation and precaution for the next level.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an Actor/Model. I specialize in acting for film. I’m most known for (soon to be released) Jo Blakk’s “Just As Good”. I am the founder of 5Eleven Performing Arts Academy in Savannah/Pooler. I’m most proud of making my mom proud of all of my accomplishments and the opportunity to watch myself on T.V with her before she passed.

What sets Me apart? Hmmm?…. I win by Playing my own game and by my own rules. I blaze my own trail, don’t follow what’s “in”, compete or try to fit into any circles or groups (a free bird if ya will). I let God fight ALL my battles. I never approach MY visions, goals or assignments with a “something to prove” to others type of attitude. I never get caught up in (social) contests that see who can present the most idyllic life. I allow Myself to be lead by God and only do the things that I love and what he purposed and called me to do. Overall, I’m honest/real with myself and God.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success…to me means…simply taking the first step toward YOUR goals, visions, desires, dreams, purpose or calling. I believe you have reached a level of success by taking a step forward. Of course, there are higher levels of success that come after that initial step. But, you have succeeded when you put your thoughts into action. Also, success is when your God given purpose has been fulfilled and you’re operating in what you’ve been gifted(by God) to do.
