Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanaya Farr.
Hi Tanaya, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Tanaya Farr, and I am known as The Lady Savannah. I am a haunted tour guide and paranormal enthusiast. I am a native of Savannah and grew up spending a lot of time in the historic section of the city. I can remember around the age of five or six being completely intrigued by the history and the stories of the people who lived in Savannah from the Revolutionary War period up until the 1940s. I remember the stories and legends being endless about Savannah. This was also about the same time the whole Jim Williams, from Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, situation occurred. I found the things that went on in Savannah very fascinating for a young child. I would often pretend that I had invisible tourists that I was reciting Savannah history and events to. This was also back in a time where there not a lot of tour companies in town and tourism was not at the height it is today. I grew older and started my own mini library and collection of books written about Savannah. I tried to learn everything possible about the paranormal past and events that would have caused this activity. Throughout my adult life, I would take anyone who would listen on tours of the city and all of our haunted spots. I have researched the cemeteries and the stories they tell from beyond the graves. I love to share and also experience the spooky and scary side of Savannah. Along the years I have seen many things myself that would make a definite believer out of the biggest skeptic. My mission is to show people the other side, beyond the Spanish Moss and beautiful architecture.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, as years ago for starters the majority of people did not think you could actually support one’s self walking around Savannah and talking about ghosts. There was not a market for paranormal or anything odd let’s say here in the deep south. Being a single mother also challenged me along the way. Social Media has greatly help the path as it has brought me together with many like minded people who love to hear and see the spookier side of things. Before Social Media, there was to some extent a lack of exposure.
One of the biggest struggles along the way I think would be living and growing up in a religious family and environment that absolutely did not believe in or tolerate paranormal beliefs of any kind. I can remember being of middle school age and sneaking books on the occult and paranormal in the library. I would get another book and place on top of the book I was reading so no one would know, as those subject types were prohibited.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I feel that my industry of Paranormal tours will grow immensely over the next several years. There is so much interest in this field and so much yet to be discovered information wise and research also to be done in this area. Popular Youtube channels and Television shows have increased the interest and I feel will continue to do so. I feel as we progress forward more and more actual Paranormal Investigations will be conducted and offered to the public. I feel that people who are interested in this subject want to have a personal experience, and their being with an experienced guide would make one feel more apt to have an authentic experience.
