Rising Stars: Meet Roz Morris of The downtown design district

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roz Morris.

Hi Roz, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m a fashion designer, artist and an entrepreneur. I opened up StoneLords in 2020. It’s a clothing store, art gallery and design studio. We carry lines from all over the world and locally with an emphasis on sustainability and creativity. In addition, we have special events in the garden space such a spoken word/poetry, art openings and trunk shows. I am currently working on a new line of apparel and writing a novel as a fun project. I have my fashion degree from Parsons, BFA from Scad in Atlanta and a master’s in science and acupuncture. I’ve had a clothing line before in NYC and have shown my fine art extensively in the USA.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Opening during the pandemic and learning to pivot. It’s been a wild ride but I’m grateful to have this project during these times.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Fashion design. Fine artist and retailer.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Just opening the doors and going for it was a huge risk. As well as adding the design studio. Plus, not being in NYC full time but getting more to being back and forth. Leaving my artistic community to go do this on my own.
