Today we’d like to introduce you to Kadeji Phillips.
Hi Kadeji, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a young black entrepreneur who has a passion for nail extensions & creating Press On Nails. I grew up in a small town called Crawford, AL.
My passion for nails started when I was in about the 7th grade. My mother used to buy me all the supplies you could think of for nails. Although I didn’t take nails seriously until I graduated college as an LPN.
I had friends who would let me practice on them no matter how bad my work was. They always came back and supported me because this was something I was determined to do. If we look back on my past work vs today’s work it’s amazing to see how far I’ve come.
So many people tell me you have a degree to be a nurse you should just do that, & my response every time is “ Why can’t I just do both ?” To be honest, doing both is hard work. Very hard work , because nursing school is like a whole other job 8-5 and some days I don’t even get to practice on nails, but that’s when I had to incorporate a schedule that would allow me to do both. With a lot of prayers and hard work, I’m doing just what I said. “BOTH.”
When I’m doing nails I’m just so happy, because I’m able to let my creativity flow. with full sets & Press On Nails.
All the magic happens in Columbus, Ga between myself & my team’s storefront shop Glam R Us . They are amazing at helping me with my business. My team is filled with lash techs who both have their own cosmetics line & one is aspiring make up artist. The other is the only male lash tech in Columbus Ga. So you should just be able to imagine the beauty/creative ideas we all come up with.
I will be moving states soon. There I will also be pursuing my nursing career as well as networking my nails business.
Columbus, Ga is an overall okay city but I feel you won’t be able to expand as much there because everyone is doing the same thing and business to me is based on popularity.
Most of my sales, followers, & customers come from worldwide. I don’t want to spend my whole life in just one state . & that is why I want to travel city to city. Meet new people, new business adventure. I’m sure where ever my new journey leads me it’ll be beneficial and amazing.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. You will get knocked down, some days business is slow, some days business is booming.
Nails is something I always wanted to do & with prayer, faith & the mindset of Tipz With KP. This business will be successful. You just got to have a positive mindset about your life and goals.
We believe that causes you to be a believer even when obstacles come in your way, whether it’s being a young black entrepreneur or maybe even life itself.

I love that my city is full of entrepreneurs. Everyone wants to be in the business industry.
What I don’t like is that my city is based on popularity, this shows a lot. People would rather pick your services based off popularity. It doesn’t matter to them how long you’ve been doing your job or how good you are at it. I feel because it based on popularity, they choose to go get serviced by you & then bash you when the service is not up to par.
