Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Smith.
Hi Sean, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story is like a gift, one you never expected to receive. I’ve always been a pretty adventurers kid growing up. I wasn’t bad just got myself into dumb situations but also some really awesome moments. I was pretty fearless to try new experiences which in return helped me overcome disappointments and setbacks. My family has always been big on photographs and I remember traveling on vacations to beaches and just loving this new world. So by this time I was 15 -16 and loved taking pictures with my canon PowerShot “thanks mom”! I used that camera to the fullest making videos, taking self-portraits, and even small sessions. Fast forward a few years, a photographer in my community got me my first professional camera, and let me tell you. She saw something in me that I never understood. To this day I’m beyond grateful for that because that taught me how to invest in others.
Honestly, I never wanted to start a business out of photography but God had other plans which I had to be okay with. Photography isn’t just about taking great pictures but connecting with others, life, and yourself in a unique way. The only reason I am where I am today is because of the amazing 478 community, friends, family, and ultimately God allowing me to have breath in my lungs to do so.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If the road would have been smooth it wouldn’t be worth it. I never understood what hard work was until I made my business official. Taking pictures is second nature, but running a successful business requires skills that you may lack. I have a lot of weaknesses but I’ve learned that no great leader is great by himself. A great team and foundation are required to become great.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Wedding & Portrait Photographer based in Warner Robins Ga. I specialize in natural light and connections with people.
Who are you? That’s my drive in storytelling because I believe we all are born with a purpose. I’m able to bring out the best qualities in people by connecting with people on a human level. As people, we forget who we are daily, weekly, and yearly. If I’m able to show you who you are in under 15min I’ve done my job. I agree being photographed can seem nerve-wracking but it doesn’t have to be.
As a business owner, I care about my clients mentally, this factor can help your clients show up excited to experience something new with a sense of ease. If we are able to listen to one another without distractions we could understand people with a better perspective.
If we have the proper ingredients before having your photos taken, I can promise you the cake will turn out delicious.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Patience, patience, hard work, more patience, rest, and be a lifelong learner.
You can spot someone that will be successful a mile away, why? because they have the right ingredients to do so. Things in life are simple. If you put in the effort and proper time you can do anything.
Don’t take advice from people that won’t take advice from you.
Rest one day a week. You will thank yourself later.
Just because it doesn’t happen overnight doesn’t mean you aren’t meant to be that thing. Great things take time!
