Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Hoang.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I vividly remember the day I got inspired to create my food Instagram account. I was a senior in high school sitting in English class. My friends and I were talking about how often I like to go out to try new restaurants. They suggested I start a food Instagram and so I did! I was embarrassed about it at first so I actually kept it anonymous through the first year of running the account. Afterward, I became more comfortable and started to embrace it.
Once I was posting more consistently, businesses and restaurants started reaching out to me to work with them. Through that, I have formed meaningful connections, found a new passion for content creation, and a love for helping small businesses. Then, I started meeting and becoming friends with other food influencers and became part of a wonderful community that is based in the DMV area. Everyone in this community called DMV Foodie Crew is super supportive and friendly. Through that community, I have ended up with some amazing friendships!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been smooth sailing. With all journeys, there are bumps in the road. There are times when I was in a rut with my creativity or just feeling drained and burnt out. There is also pressure to stay relevant and perform well because social media is constantly changing. Whether it be the algorithm or a new social media platform. You constantly have to stay on your toes and stay true to yourself. It can be easy to get caught up in social media and let it define you. At the end of the day, it’s my work that is displayed and it is not a true representation of who I am.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Fun Food Group is a social media agency that started off with me and three of my friends who are also food influencers. We met through Instagram a few years ago and have been close ever since. The “F” stands for @foodsinmyheart, the “U” stands for @urnovafoodie, and the “N” stands for @novafoodking. We thought it was the perfect name because it represents the first letter of our accounts and we always have “Fun” when working together. Through our strong passions for social media and helping businesses build their brands, we formed an LLC. We offer multiple services from content creation through photography and videography, social media account management, and creative campaigns. We understand that it takes time to build a brand and not all businesses have the time to do so. When we are hired, we take the time off of the business’ hands and let them focus on what they do best.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People or businesses who want to work with me can email me at [email protected]. In terms of support, following my accounts on social media or interacting with my posts mean the world to me!
