Today we’d like to introduce you to Deniya Barron.
Hi Deniya, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my business when I was nineteen years old originally! It came upon me because so many people were interested in the hair that I had. People always used to ask where I purchased my hair from and I kind of got known off the fact of having quality hair and hairdos/colors that stood out. This sparked my attention because I realized this is something that I can make money from, and it was also a passion. I love hair, I love everything about hair! So, me and my hairdresser at the time started looking into hair vendors. We spent months and thousands doing this because I was so big on quality over quantity. I wanted something that everybody would love but also sell it at a reasonable price (being that I’m from a very small town). Once we locked in on one vendor, my hairdresser came up with the name of my business out of a whim.
“UnDeniable Hair Collection” stemming from my name, Deniya. It was perfect! From that point forward it moved fast! I would order wigs 15 to 20 at one time and be sold out within a week! It was moving so fast that I barely was keeping up, but I was always so grateful for that! The Middle Georgia area showed my business so much love and they are the reason my business is where it is today! With this business though I am also a full-time college student, so I had to relocate back to savannah for school and basically restart all over again. I provide on-hand services so.. I had to rebuild my clientele here and rebranded myself as well! It was a very humbling experience, but I am also grateful for it as well! It showed me that business doesn’t always boom. Now, I’m here and the business is doing great. I love everything about being a business owner.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My struggles were relocating because of college! I had built such a strong clientele in the Middle Georgia area and when I moved, I went from being sold out in a week or less to probably selling a wig once a week! AND it would still be from someone in the Middle Georgia area. So, my business took a major hit when relocating
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
UnDeniable Hair Collection is a small black owned business. It was started on November 1st, 2020. We sell quality lace front wigs, bundles, accessories, and merch! What sets UnDenaible apart from other hair vendors is that we specialize in having everything on-hand! It’s my mission to make it a one stop shop. You don’t have to wait on your product or question the quality because there is no need to! Everything is already there. I’m most proud of the feedback of my brand! It’s always positive reviews and everyone is satisfied with their product. I want readers to know that quality always over quantity and we value all of our customers.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Actually, no! the only way the pandemic has affected our business is pricing! This business was built amid a pandemic and still thrived.
