Meet Liz and Hanna of Hali Hali

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz and Hanna.

Hi Liz and Hanna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We met while working together for a LA based company that specializes in merchandised textiles. We became fast friends over our shared love of dogs and mutual dislike of unfiltered lighting. Driven to create with intention, we moved to the quiet haven of coastal Georgia and began searching for a meaningful, authentic project to pour our hearts into. Thus, HALI HALI was idealized.

Our mission with HALI HALI is to connect all of us through bright design and thoughtful conversation.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We have certainly had our share of challenges. Our biggest challenge has probably been evolving to meet the demands of our company and customers quickly!

Our very first wholesale order was from a large national retailer! This happened before we had even manufactured one of our products! This sort of immediate success was exciting, but also required us to learn FAST. We had to bootstrap many things that larger companies already have systems for.

That first order had us renting out storage units, learning how to palletize and load a pallet, quality inspecting thousands of products by hand and ordering semi-trucks to ship our goods. All of this was done by just Liz & I… In fact, at the moment we are still handling all of our own bulk shipments! Although now we are much more efficient about it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
HALI HALI is a love letter to fearless design and female entrepreneurialism.

We created this brand to finally do what we wanted. We knew there was a way to make a positive impact on the world through creative art and expression. With HALI HALI, we can do just that. Through our design process, we’re able to be intentional about the effect our products have in your home as well as on the environment. Everything we do is built on our dedication to craft quality design, whether it’s a thought provoking pattern of the female form to functional and a bit unusual home textiles.

We are probably best known for our fun and risqué textiles. We believe that the human form should not be so awkward to talk about & hope our “nip slip” and “bums out” prints spark some great conversation!

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Liz: I was born in Michigan and grew up on a small farm next door to my grandparents. It was an idyllic upbringing, quite bohemian and I ran a bit wild.

Hanna: I was born and raised in a small town surrounded by nature in southeastern Finland.

While our upbringing was very far apart geographically, we both enjoyed the arts greatly and were not afraid to challenge social norms.
