Today we’d like to introduce you to Biodiversitude. Them and their team share their story with us below:
As a group of students passionate about science, especially in regards to living things and their interactions, we wanted to educate others on the consequences of human actions on food chains.
Our aim was to teach the scientific theory in a simple and concise manner in hopes to give a different perspective to the climate issue.
We took on our respective roles in content creation, and now we aim for quality, detail, and reliability, hoping to provide education in a captivating manner.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Inevitably, there were some struggles. Initially, we needed more people to alleviate the workload – at one point we were behind schedule due to the lack of members in our group.
Due to our conflicting timetables and COVID restrictions, we had no choice but to have our meetings and conversations on text or Google meet, rather than in person. This ended up causing major communication and coordination issues.
Nonetheless, we solved these problems and improved online communications by being clearer with our intentions and establishing more structure with our deadlines. We also held more meetings and developed a stronger bond as a group.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Biodiversitude advocates for the preservation of biodiversity and explores the consequences of human activities on living systems. We believe that the quality of our posts and the content is what sets us apart.
Our writing team meticulously reads over and edits the content, and the graphics team spends a lot of time designing specific graphics and organizing the layout in order for the posts to look professional and aesthetically pleasing. It is precisely the quality which we are most proud of.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
All of us are passionate about animals and the environment. Pihu loves animals a lot. She volunteers at a reptile shelter to gain more experience working with animals. She intends to be a marine biologist or zoologist in the future. Kristen has an interest in the scientific side of these issues and is passionate about biology – she is fascinated by life on a molecular level.
Despite not wanting to pursue a career associated with the environment, Ling Shan still has a passion for spreading awareness on prevalent issues that concern the environment. Vianca is passionate about the protection of living organisms and their preservation. She has volunteered at various organizations, such as the Hong Kong Rabbit Society and HKHerp.
Maya has consistently enjoyed being around animals, she has been a competitive equestrian since she was eight years old and volunteers at Sai Kung Stray Friends regularly. She has grown to become more aware of and interested in advocating for the wellbeing of animals. Jennifer may not end up working in an environmental career, though she is still concerned with the current happenings in the environment and uses her graphic design talents to spread awareness.
