Meet Ava Tamborella

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ava Tamborella.

Hi Ava, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As cliche as it sounds, I’ve always had a love for fashion.

It started with wearing my mom’s high heels around the house as a toddler, drawing clothes in my notebook in middle school, to then studying fashion in college at SCAD.

It’s been quite the journey but I know it’s my path in life and I can’t imagine pursuing any other career, and I have the creative influences from both of my parents to thank for that.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Choosing what you want to do with your life definitely always has its challenges, especially during the years of 18-24 when you’re simultaneously discovering who you are as a person.

Throughout my college experience, I’ve dealt with the struggles of debating which avenue of fashion to take, design or marketing, and it was a battle because I felt like I was letting part of myself go when I changed my major.

Surely enough, I definitely did not lose that part of myself and have figured out how to combine both of my passions.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Fashion has been at the forefront of my mind for as long as I can remember.

All of my work has in some way, if not directly, related to fashion. I’ve worked on many different projects ranging from designing collections to full market reports on designers, and even creating/writing my own mock magazine.

I like to work on as many things as I can in all areas of the fashion industry because it is all so inspiring to me!

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
To those starting out, and to my younger self, I would say to make goals along the way and stick to them.

I had a lot of self-doubt at some points and if I hadn’t trusted my gut and followed my goals, my life would look very different right now.

It’s easier said than done to ignore your self-doubt and not compare yourself to others, but remember that your journey in life is entirely different than those around you. Having confidence in your own work will really pay off in the end, so stay focused on your path
