Today we’d like to introduce you to Iliada Evangelia Kothra.
Iliada, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a wholesales manager, business consultant, author, and keynote speaker. My background has to do with digital marketing, sales, marketing, and advertising. I am also the managing director of the global platform www.living-postcards.com a project started in 2012, at a time of deep economic and political crisis, out of the need to change the world’s perspective of Greece. On one of my trips to London, I noticed a lot of local food products in elegant food stores. I suddenly realized that as a country, we had something more to offer other than the typical “Greece”, more than the typical “moussaka”, “souvlaki” and the picturesque beaches of the Greek islands. When I returned, I decided to make a global platform that would showcase “The New Face of Greece.” Deep in my heart, I wanted to prove that Greece is not a country with lazy people but a blessed place with tones of vision and creativity. New fashion and jewelry designers, small boutique hotels, local food products, Greek cosmetics, artists, musicians, all the things that were born in the middle of the financial crisis. After 10 years, Living Postcards is the greatest database about this “new face,” and we are very happy about the concept. We have organized 23 networking events supporting new brands and entrepreneurs.
I am also the founder of the #dontacceptit campaign against domestic violence. Our goal is to empower women through events and workshops, talking about the red flags in a relationship and ways to get out of a toxic one.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Traveling is not about smooth roads. Reaching the destination can be tricky but it is also a huge life experience. There are obstacles that make you strong and wiser. The biggest struggle was against me. My procrastination. My lack of confidence, no matter the inner power I was feeling inside.
My own journey started 20 years ago. Αfter my studies I started working for various companies in the field of sales and merchandising, but after a while, I realized that the internet was the ultimate leader of the future because I was tired of working in places like offices and big stores, I needed freedom. I saw an opportunity to work in a nomadic style, which I still do.
I think that failures got me where I am right now. Experience. Mistakes. But above all, Ι was lucky enough to work under dynamic female managers who taught me that there are no limits to an ambitious woman. Those women were the absolute role models for me, this is the reason I like to collaborate with women. After all… I keep traveling.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My job has to do with sales, customer experience, and digital marketing.
I love technology and I love dealing with social media. As a writer and a digital creator, I find inspiration 24/7 in things that many people can not.
What I see around, can be transformed into digital text for a client, for my books, or for my articles.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I love the podcasts of Tonya Leigh, she is my digital sister! Also, the book ”Becoming Bulletproof ” by Evy Poumpouras and the book ”5-second rule” by Mel Robbins, have changed me completely.
Amazing women, true role models!
One of the men I consider also as my own mentor is Jack Canfield, can not stop reading his books. My favorite app is the one that keeps me focused and denies me access to scrolling around social media without any specific reason.
