Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello!
I was a housekeeper in Las Vegas for over ten years. On August 1st, 2013 I was terminated from my job. I had knee surgery from a car accident and was unable to work. I have always believed in the power of prayer. I told God I was not able to do hard physical labor anymore and I have to trust You. I began to tell God to enlarge my territory, I began to tell him to give me ideas to get wealth. I asked him for a favor and a supernatural increase.
Ideas started popping in my head. I had a cousin that was on medication for high blood pressure and she had lost all her hair. I told her I’m going to make something to grow her hair. I started researching what grows hair. I mixed up three formulas.
The serum she used worked. She said my hair is growing, it had not been ten days. I said I don’t believe you. Her hair was actually growing back and fast. I told my youngest son Sterling I was going to start selling the formula. He said mom it’s not going to work just get a job. I just keep praying and asking the Lord for guidance in the matter.
Mathew 7:7-8 says Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
I started the business with no job and no money. I didn’t even have phone service. I made phone calls with the Pinger app. I began to post the product and my cousin’s before and after photos on Instagram.
My first product Formula D Hair Regrowth Serum went viral. We started shipping all over the world and allow other companies to private label the serum and our other twenty-plus products.
I worked the business from home until April 2020. At the height of Covid. The Lord told me to get a warehouse and to stock up. We did just that. The year 2020 net our company Eden Kingdom Essential LLC over $4,000,000. God is good and he is faithful. If I can start a business anyone can. I had a baby in eleventh grade. I graduated with a 1.16 GPA. I have no education, I had no mentors. My family looked down on me because I was a single mother with three kids.
I, to this day, never had a bank loan for a business or personal loan, I own five homes three in Michigan, one in Las Vegas, and one in Port Wentworth cash with no loans.
Tell yourself every day I am blessed, I am beautiful, I am worthy, I am proud of myself, I am rich, I am happy, I have joy, I have peace even if you don’t speak it. In Proverbs, it says “The tongue has the power of life and death, only speak life doesn’t matter how bad it looks.”
If a single mom from Detroit can do you can too. It takes faith and belief in yourself. Avoid negativity, take care of your body and mind. Don’t give up.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The struggle I ran into in the beginning was not having a dollar to my name. Not having transportation or a computer and printer.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I make hair and skin products by hand. I am proud of the businesswoman and mom I knew I could always be. My products are made for men and women of all nationalities and all hair types. My products are designed for serious hair and scalp conditions like alopecia, cradle cap and psoriasis.
What sets me apart is I make everything by hand. Most times with no recipe. Someone can ask me about a hair or scalp condition and the Lord will download into me what is needed.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
The biggest risk I have taken was getting a warehouse at the very beginning of Covid and leaving the safety of my home. It paid off the Lord saw all the business that was coming way before I did.
You have to take risks that is the only way you can grow. You have to push yourself. I don’t believe in telling people when I make moves or big business decisions because they will try to talk you out of it because they can’t do it.
