Today we’d like to introduce you to Tayler Ayers.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Long story short…
I’m adopted. Born and raised in the South. Pursued pro tennis and didn’t work out. Four high schools. Three colleges. I played college tennis. Got burnt out. Started selling art on insta in 2o16-ish. Still doing art full time but founded a financial literacy company with a friend of mine and I’m pursuing content creation as well.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely, not a smooth road. Working full time as a self-employed artist, while in grad school and playing a sport. Went vegan to save money and developed an eating disorder as a result.
Fully funded all of my business ventures out of pocket. Failed relationships.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m talented yeah sure.
I’m creative okay cool but my two biggest skills are 1. I am 100%, Tayler Ayers. Good or bad. I’m myself and anyone who meets me either loves me or can’t stand me and that’s what I prefer. 2. I don’t quit. Ever. I do not give up. I figure it the fuck out. Always.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Fear is normal, but your fear for it not working out has to be outweighed by the possibility of it working out. Bet on yourself. Get a thick skin. Compliments and critiques are both lame as fuck. Treat them the same. Put the work in.
Everyone will die. Get over that shit and go for it. Win some lose some. Move on. Adapt. Repeat.
You don’t get what you’re worth, you get what you negotiate.
