Today we’d like to introduce you to Dequantie Odom.
Hi Dequantie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in Fayetteville NC, this is where Bluntxminded Ent was originally created by myself and my business partner Shawntray Anderson. My original motivation was from my uncle kelsey battle the owner of ICAN he is more than a business owner he is a mogul and has always been a image to look up to. I relocated to Savannah Ga when I was medically discharged from the military in 2018. I’ve always known I wanted to be a business owner but I wasn’t sure what kind of business. I originally started shooting music videos with my phone for fun then I realized that this is something I really like doing. The first wedding I’ve ever got booked to do I didn’t even have my own camera at the time so I had to bring on a friend of mine named Carlos Orr who also has his own entertainment company in Savannah Ga name Studio Thirty. I learned a lot from him when it comes to cameras. A year into doing videography and photography with my iPhone I decided it was time to take the leap and buy a professional camera. Now 1 year and a half into having my camera business has grown consistently.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say it has been a pretty smooth road. I’m a pretty creative person so I’ve always been able to bring my wildest visions to life. The biggest issue I would say I encountered was just learning and implementing the business side of things, but once I grasped the things I needed to know it’s been pretty smooth sailing.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I do a few different things. A few of the things I do are photography, videography, graphic design and I also have a clothing brand called Bluntxminded. I would say something that I specialize in is visually bringing someone’s vision to life. Someone can give me an idea that they have and I can easily produce exactly what they are looking for if not more. Something that sets me apart from others is that it’s not all about money with me. Everything I do is done with passion and with my best foot forth.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
One thing I love best about Savannah is how beautiful it is. The scenery is amazing and not to mention there are 3 beaches within a 30 min distance. I don’t think there is anything I genuinely dont like about Savannah.
