Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Burton.
Hi Linda, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi, Thank you so much for having me. I’ve been through a few professional reincarnations, beginning as a singer at Berklee College of Music in Boston, then I was a paralegal for 15 years before finally deciding to pursue my passion as a makeup artist. I trained in NYC and CT, and was very fortunate to have excellent mentors and the support of my family. I began doing all kinds of work, including beauty makeup, runway, movies, fashion shows, weddings, and commercial projects.
In 2012, we moved to SC to be closer to our daughter. I became an esthetician in 2014, and primarily provided skincare and makeup services part-time.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In 2016 my husband died of a sudden heart attack. I was suddenly the sole breadwinner, and I had a mortgage. The road after my husband passed away wasn’t an easy one.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Specializing in airbrush makeup, we offer the flawless, natural look that many people strive for.
Oh, when I say “we”, it is because I currently sub-contract a team of licensed estheticians and cosmetologists that provide hair and makeup services for both private and commercial events along with me.
Everybody on our team is either a licensed esthetician or cosmetologist, so you can be assured that we are trained to the highest sanitation standards. I am an avid animal lover, so you can be assured that I strive to fill my makeup kit with high-performance, cruelty-free products.
We have been trusted for over 10 years to deliver high-quality, stress-free services using the best products for our customers in this hot, humid climate.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
As a creative, although I was unable to perform makeup services, I was unable to stop creating, so I taught myself how to wire wrap and wire weave jewelry.
I also spent 2021 educating myself through an elite group comprised of 150 makeup artists around the world called iArtist, led by celebrity makeup artists Danessa Myricks and James Vincent. I was pushed beyond my comfort zone, and that was one of the best parts of the program. It improved my artistry and so much more.
It is fun, sometimes relaxing, sometimes stressful, but always rewarding! My next endeavor is photography…
