Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronnie Taylor.
Hi Ronnie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
People we knew wanted an alternative to the traditional fitness model that required you to go to gyms. They would always ask us questions daily or seek advice on alternative methods to achieve fitness or to improve their quality of life. Many of them had bone and joint issues or other conditions that prevented them from participating in high-impact exercises or large group activities.
Many of them also lacked the confidence and supervision to properly execute their long-term vision of improved health and vitality because they did not have the proper guidance to accomplish the task. After several days of contemplation, we decided to merge our skills and talents to create Yoga In The Moment LLC: an integrated yoga experience featuring the yogi and a doctor. Yoga In The Moment LLC is the place where yoga meets healthcare!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The journey has been bumpy periodically; however, that’s a part of the ride, especially in the Covid era. Like most businesses, Covid had an impact, but we were able to improvise and adapt as the virus progressed. When we first started our business, we were doing sessions in a local community center, then Covid came and forced everyone into lockdown so we stopped in-person sessions due to the lack of understanding of the virus in terms of its mode of transmission.
This was the most stressful time in our business because our business model required in-person meetings. Fortunately, thanks to Zoom and other teleconferencing software, we were able to transition to virtual client meetings during the pandemic to satisfy our clients’ needs and sustain our business during Covid. The pandemic forced us to rethink our business model altogether in terms of large group classes inside a public facility, so we transitioned to concierge service only, limited our class sizes, and focused on client safety, client health, and customer service.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our diverse background in education and healthcare makes us uniquely qualified to service a diverse group of clients, particularly people currently experiencing mobility issues as well as social and emotional problems that may require extra diligence, more so than in a traditional yoga class. We believe in educating our clients on wellness and the benefits of healthy movement to promote optimum health while focusing on yoga as a means of coping with life daily stressors while improving overall mental health and mobility.
I manage the health and safety aspects of our client sessions. I also manage the health education aspects of our business. I typically monitor the clients during the session to ensure that high-quality yoga sessions are done safely without any injury to the clients. Also, I work with the yogi to recommend modifications to poses if the client is having difficulty with certain movements as it pertains to the natural range of motion. I perform the initial client participation survey and review health and safety information before all yoga sessions to ensure a great yoga experience while maximizing the therapeutic effects of yoga. Along with assisting the yogi during the yoga sessions as needed, I am responsible for the health education workshops and summer camps at Yoga In The Moment LLC. My area of expertise is chiropractic, sports injury management, and physical rehabilitation. I am a licensed chiropractor with physical therapy privileges in Georgia.

Brand wise we have been able to educate people, especially the African American community about the benefits of yoga. Most people equate yoga exclusively to India; however, that is not the case. People from all ethnicities and religious backgrounds practice yoga daily for its therapeutic benefits including but not limited to the relief of back pain, stress management, and mental acuity. Also, laypersons who are not familiar with yoga typically assume all yogis are contortionists, which is not the case. Yoga can be “tailored” to meet the client’s needs regardless of the client’s present range of motion and physical attributes. There is no “one size fits all,” that’s why we have a variety of yoga styles to choose from.
