Hi Diamond, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in Savannah GA. At the age of 19; I witnessed a lot of my peers begin to start businesses; so I’m thinking “wow, I wonder what I can do” I’ve been cooking since I was 13 maybe I should give food a shot!” With that being said I ended up coming up with a quick meal to sell and see what would be the outcome. I did GREAT!
After that, a lot of people kept asking for different meals and sorts so I continued to keep going. I also ended up giving baking a try in 2019 shortly after my grandmother died. She was my biggest inspiration to keep pushing and building my brand.
Everyone thought it was so cool that I could bake and cook with that motivation it keep me pushing and made me feel like it was nothing that I could not do.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest obstacle that I experienced was when Covid-19 took effect.
A lot of people were losing jobs, hard-working and even it finding it hard to even maintain everyday life. Covid-19 slowed down a lot of sales, yet I kept pushing. A rough challenge to get through when your starting a business is the “support” when you’re starting a business many of us focus on wondering if our friends, and family would support us.
As a business owner, I would like to say that your biggest supporters are strangers, people who never met you or seen you before. They support you to the fullest, and always know that networking is KEY!!
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I took a BIG leap of faith stepping out and starting a business in food service. It’s a risk you have to take, but once you put in your mind you’re going to be the BEST at what you do you don’t care what anybody has to say about you. I always tell myself “Scared money, don’t make money.”
