Hi Jacilyn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
It is now understood that being truly who you are, means it is best to lose your personal history. Societal beliefs, antiquated laws, and low-vibrating collective thought patterns must be abandoned to progress. As many are becoming aware of their own wounds and need for healing, somehow I had a head start.
Before committing fully to Wind Over Heaven and offering my healing practices, my career and life for 15 years were as a social sciences teacher. Surviving repeated traumas, including those done to the self, I found myself a role model at age 21. Thirty or more pairs of eyes watching my every move and hanging on my words. Yoga was always an outlet, thanks to the kind college community, but I became hyper-aware, and very quickly, that I should probably live with integrity and be impeccable with my words, especially if young minds are observing. I failed a lot, but also, cracked open my heart to prefer compassion and healing with my students, rather than harshness and pressure. We should learn so much from our children, they are reflections and so close to the source and divine.
Having taught abroad in my early 20s, I made a switch to virtual education in 2016, allowing me the opportunity to travel long-term abroad and domestically, to learn and keep growing myself. Vipassana meditation (dhamma.org), was a complete overhaul for me and a major game changer for my seeking ways. Having several certifications for energy work and yoga in the USA, I feel most of my learning about emotional and energetic healing came through my wanderings of central America and time traveling and living in India. There are many wise gurus to sit and chat with in India.
I did not start offerings services until March 2020 when the pandemic grounded me. Wind Over Heaven is located on Tybee Island and is honored to serve your soul.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nor has this road been straight! I will admit freely that I fail a lot. We all do. Throughout this entire experience and life trip, releasing control of the outcome, and being able to be in the moment is what has made this road an exciting one to travel. While living in a society that projects marriage and family to the masses, I neglected to listen. Turning completely “inweird”, I sought out eastern and experiential healing modalities to help release me of emotional and energetic trauma.
In time, I craved to share these modes with others and took in the coursework. A bit isolated in my ways, my own initial healing and shadow work was done in solitude. I am sure to most, my life looks very dreamy, but I promise, WE manifest everything. I promise there are things that you too can do to maintain a magical and peaceful existence.
It is a complete honor to serve as compassionate support and guide to those in need of energetic or emotional relief/restoration/exploration.
