Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Vogt.
Hi Brittany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Growing up, painting and drawing was something me and my dad would sit and do together. I’ve always loved painting. I am self-taught. It is just something that makes me happy. I started really practicing more when everything shut down in 2020. It kind of just grew from there.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a particularly rough road. I have had moments where I would need to take breaks from my commissions so that I could focus on something just for me. I have found that gets me out of my blocks that I can get into sometimes.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a high school science teacher. Science is another big love of mine. I LOVE being a teacher. My students are some of my biggest fans. They like to hype me up every now and then.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Oil paint used to scare me (Well, kind of still does. Not gonna lie). The layers and mixing was complicated for me at first. Again, I am self-taught, so it was a lot of trial and error on my part. Now oil painting is my preferred medium. I’m pretty proud of my progress. You can’t get better unless you’re willing to try new methods and mess up every now and then.
