Conversations with Jennifer Gerschutz and Sandra Lomeli

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Gerschutz and Sandra Lomeli.

Hi Jennifer and Sandra, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sandy and I meet through our kid’s club swim team, the Bluffton Fins. Both of our husbands were stationed in the area. The parents of the swim team threw a baby shower for head coach Yorlliry Moreno. Sandy brought decorations – a balloon arch from Amazon, and we put it up together. That first arch wasn’t the prettiest, but we had so much fun putting it up that later, Sandy proposed we start a business! As military spouses, we are always looking for ways to become a part of the community and meet people. There was a market niche in the community for our business model. We practiced our designs and donated a lot of balloons during the startup process and in our first year, which allowed our processes and products to progressively improve to the point where we are now – large jobs, including corporate parties and weddings. Our orders and customer interest have surpassed what either of us had expected. We have been so very fortunate to meet the most generous and kindest small business owners who helped us to grow our small business, especially Pulseology Fitness and Elle Michele Photography.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes, we have been blessed with a smooth road so far. We have loving, supportive families, especially our husbands. Our biggest challenge is perfecting the work-life balance. We try to always maintain a positive attitude in all situations. Our main goal/focus is a satisfied client. This is what we feel has helped our business grow.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Sandy and I create balloon decor to celebrate every occasion. We are most proud of the amazing support we have received from our customers. We are always looking for ways to improve and grow. Similar to the other balloon artist in our community, we have a love for balloons and hope that shines through in all he do.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
We have been fortunate enough to have an amazing amount of support from local small businesses in the area, which has been how we believe how we have been able to grow. Our community of friends had also played a huge part in championing our business and getting the word out. So, I guess we are lucky to have a great community to support our vision.
