Today we’d like to introduce you to Cierra Jordan.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started the esthetics program at Ogeechee Technical College after going to Georgia Southern and not being able to decide on a major and switching it more than 4 times within 2 years. I loved doing makeup and was working at Ulta Beauty as a lead cashier and ultimately decided to pursue a career in the beauty industry. During my program, I fell in love with doing brows, and after I graduated, I started working as a brow artist for Benefit Cosmetics. I moved into a management position after about a year and then received a call from a spa about working as a sugarist in Savannah. I moved to Savannah, and after focusing on speed-sugaring Brazilians for a while I decided to start renting a space out of a salon to slow down my pace and to focus back on brows again. I went through training for microblading and started working with brow henna and a few months later I was lucky enough to find an amazing building for rent and decided to make the leap to open my own place! It’s been nothing but short of amazing since then, and I am so grateful for my experiences that led me to where I am.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
One of the reasons I chose to slow down and leave the spa I was working for was actually due to personal health issues and major anxiety. I was having anxiety attacks at work and felt overwhelmed with things in my personal life. Luckily, I have phenomenal, supportive friends and family in my life that helped me work through those issues, and once I was able to overcome those problems with help from my health coach and holistic doctor, I realized how important self- care was and wanted to create an environment in my studio that felt peaceful and relaxing for anyone walking in. Being able to create a space where people felt like they could walk in and just relax and breathe was extremely important for me and I try to just create a safe and welcoming environment for my clients. I have been able to develop an amazing relationship with so many of them and strive to always listen to them and make sure they know they can always come to the studio even if it’s just to sit and talk and take a break from day-to-day activities.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
I try to take a more natural approach to beauty; I love the self-care aspect of it and taking a moment to be able to just be present with our bodies and take time to just focus on really appreciating yourself. So, I specialize in brows; personally, I love seeing peoples’ reactions after their brows are just done because they truly make a difference since they frame our faces. Some of my favorite moments have been women’s reactions when they see what a difference just a little shaping or henna can do. I also use Farmhouse Fresh skincare products in my studio. They are a woman-owned brand based out of Texas where they grow a lot of their own ingredients on their farm or source from other farmers in the United States, and their profits go back towards their animal rescue. I love being able to support such an amazing mission like the one they have and just being involved with a brand that aligns with issues that matter to me.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the energy of Savannah, and there are people from all over that live here, so getting to meet so many different people is such an amazing experience, and I love all the small businesses and outdoor parks that Savannah has; it really feels like a community. There’s not much I dislike about the city, but I’m really bad at parallel parking, so if I had to choose something, I would say having to parallel park whenever I go downtown.
