Hi Omariyah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started doing hair back in high school. I would just do my family and friends hair. When I graduate high school in 2017, I started receiving inquiring minds on my work. In 2021 hit, I really began to do outsiders hair. In 2022 thing started to take off with me braiding hair. I had a talk with my mom, and she encouraged me to take my talent and go to school. In January 2023, I started the new year off and began school at Empire Beauty School. In 2024 I will graduate and become a Master Cosmetologist.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth ride. I 2017 my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer, and things did become hard. 2019 I gave birth to my daughter, and I knew that I needed to get my life together for my child. In 2021 my cousin went missing for a week and found murder. In between all that there was a lot of things that got in the way of my passion.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I specialize in braiding little girls’ hair, but not limited to. I braid kids, women, and men. I also do sewins, quick weaves, frontal, and closures. My main focus it to make everyone feel absolutely gorgeous.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a very talented child. I joined the band in 5th grade with the flute. I learned to play every instrument. I always played basketball, tennis, softball, track and field, JROTC, dance, and drill team. I always strived for excellence.
