Exploring Life & Business with Adam Leland of A-Frame Aerials

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Leland.

Hi Adam, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I grew up in East Tennessee in a small town where there wasn’t much to for work or anything that would lead to a prosperous career, so from a pretty young age, I knew I’d be leaving the first chance I got. That ticket ended up being the U.S. Air Force, where I served six years between 2006 and 2012 as an aircraft mechanic being stationed in England, followed by Kansas. During that time, I traveled all over the Europe and the Middle East. I decided to return to civilian life after my six years were up and ended up moving to Savannah Georgia to take a position working for one of the world’s premier luxury business jet manufactures where I’ve currently been employed for over a decade. I really missed flying, but due to time and cost, I had no real way of being able to do so in the traditional sense of being on an actual aircraft, so the next best option was to start flying drones. This quickly became something I fell in love with along with be able to photograph the world from a few hundred feet up was a great way to see things from a very different perspective of the world than one would traditionally see being at ground level. Towards the end of 2022, I decided to create my aerial photography business A-Frame Aerials.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Admittedly my business is still in its infancy stage, and I expect many hurdles down the road. But like anything in life it takes persistence and a “never quit” attitude if you want to make things happen. It’s like the old saying, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” I would say the first struggle was simply creating the business; there isn’t exactly a road map for making it happen.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I created A-Frame Aerials to provide aerial photography and drone services for Savannah and the Surrounding area here in southeast Georgia and South Carolina. I’m known for photographing downtown Savannah, providing an aerial perspective of an old city that’s rich with history and old architecture styles from colonial, Victorian, and Gothic Revival just to name a few. Savannah is such a unique city that while capturing it from the ground is great, but to truly get a perspective of the city it’s best to see things from a few hundred feet up. My services are weddings, real estate, marketing photo/videography, along with other drone-related services which include roofing and infrastructure inspections. I have one employee which is my editor, which I’m blessed to say is my sister, whom has a degree from East Tennessee State University in Graphic Design with a specialty in photography with 10 years’ experience. It’s an amazing experience I get to work hand in hand with her, capturing the images and allowing her to work her magic with the photos I provide her. We’re a great team, and it’s wonderful knowing I’m working with someone I know I can trust and rely on!

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I’ve never been one to take pictures until I started flying drones. I’ve spent countless hours learning as much as I can about photography, camera settings, etc. It’s become a passion, especially when I go back through all the shots after a flight, and I surprise myself with how good some look.
