Exploring Life & Business with Jeff Caplinger

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Caplinger.

Jeff, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a former educator. In 2004, I began working for a group travel company (American Destinations, Inc.). In 2010, I moved to Charleston, SC, and started a private tour company (All About Charleston). In 2015, I returned to my roots in the travel industry by starting All About Destinations, which is a group travel company. I continued to operate All About Charleston as well. During the pandemic, I moved my family back to my hometown of Elkins, WV. where I expanded All About Destinations to include selling our own excursions and working with various groups. I continue to run All About Charleston as well.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, as I found recruiting new groups to travel is difficult as a new company has no reputation. The same was true when we began to sell our own trips.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
All About Destinations has been in business for the past 7 years. We take a personal approach to group travel. We customize every tour itinerary and prioritize our groups wishes and needs ahead of all else. We specialize in student music groups as I am a former music educator. In addition, we focus on other student groups and also senior citizens’ groups. We are proud to be a truly professional company where ethical business is at the forefront of everything we do.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Not really. We follow many social media sites and pages for travel ideas etc.
