Today we’d like to introduce you to Denzel Hill.
Hi Denzel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It would be wrong to fail to mention God for giving me all of my creative talents, along with my Mom, Dad, and brother Patrick who has always supported me throughout my life. I can’t say enough for always having a safe space at home to develop into the man I am today. I grew up within the military lifestyle and navigate a student-athlete workload. Through that experience I built up intangible character qualities that allow me to be successful. Upon graduating from Columbia University with a Bachelors Degree in Architecture, I had amassed a wide range of creative skills that I knew added value to the world. Under One Sun Creative Consulting is here to help people and their brands show up better and give them options to design a brighter tomorrow for themselves.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My student-athlete career was a challenge along the whole journey. I played. soccer, roller/ice hockey, basketball trained in martial arts, and gymnastics I’m a state champion in Maryland Track & Field and finally decided to focus on football at Columbia University. Playing D-1 Ivy League Football for 5 years while going to school was a lot to manage, and I would consider that an understatement…just consider going through architecture studio and a full time college football schedule. Amidst the challenges, I had tremendous success all the way up to being potentially drafted for the NFL. Numerous injuries and illnesses that created a mental strain to overcome and physical trauma that I have been able to work through and grow from. Through this journey, it becomes prevelant why my brand is positioned as it is today and why it is poised for success.
We’ve been impressed with Under One Sun Creative Consulting, but for folks who might need to be more familiar, what can you share about what you do and what sets you apart?
As an architectural designer, I bring a unique approach to problem-solving. My process revolves around iteration, exploring various angles and perspectives. Whether I’m working on designing a brand, a home, or a garden, it’s all about piecing together the perfect solution through continuous refinement.
As someone on the path to becoming an architect, I have developed a keen eye for perceiving and creating what people need to succeed, often surpassing their own imaginations. Establishing a deep and transparent connection with my clients is paramount to me, as it allows me to effectively convey my thought process, observations, and discoveries along the way. This connection acts as the glue that binds all parties together in effective communication.
In every aspect of my work, my primary focus is on promoting wellness and longevity. I strive to ensure that the creations I produce not only meet the clients’ needs but also create an environment that benefits their customers. By prioritizing these factors, my brand of consulting naturally stands apart from the crowd.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk is all about perspective. When assessing risk, its important to have the reality of the situation thoroughly assessed. It’s also essential to determine the deeper “why” behind taking a risk, allowing you to make decisions balanced between intuition and logic. Consider this when trying to determine whether you should be takin a risk or not: The desires in your heart were put there by God for you to fulfill, otherwise the desire wouldn’t be there…and I am speaking of the morally righteous things. From there, it’s about the journey towards manifesting those desires with “faith” and action…and some parts of that journey may require more “risk” than others.
