Today we’d like to introduce you to Anders Thomsen.
Hi Anders, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I am a musician and a guitar maker. I currently perform 3-4 times a week in and around the Savannah area, Downtown, Midtown, Tybee Island, and also in other cities in the Southeast like Athens and Brunswick, GA. We also get into the Carolinas, Charleston, and Charlotte to name a couple. I have been playing and singing since I was a teenager in Lansing, MI. I play songs I have written and favorite songs of other artists. I have played in about 40 States in the US and several European countries.
My musical style is a combination of Vintage Country Music and Roots Rock and Roll.
As well as playing guitar and singing, I also build guitars. I play most of the ones I use on stage, and several musicians in Savannah and beyond can be seen performing with ones I’ve built.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been smooth and rough! Struggles include vehicles breaking down, record labels going out of business, tours being canceled, not being paid enough, and on and on…
The rewards have always outweighed the struggles. I do what I do because I love it!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
In 2022 I released an album called Seven Songs which can be found on all streaming services. It is a collection of songs I wrote, and I was very lucky to have two excellent Savannah musicians-Rachael Shaner and Chris Fullerton, play on it with me. It has received radio play in the US and abroad. I plan to release another album later in 2023 with a bunch more original songs on it.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My wife Sarah and my daughter Freya top that list! Next would be music and building guitars.
