Conversations with Safety Coffin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Safety Coffin.

Safety Coffin

Hi Safety, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We met at a Ty Segall concert in 2019 and became good friends. After realizing we had a lot of the same musical influences, we started Safety Coffin. This was one of those rare occasions where we knew what we would sound like before we even started playing together. What started out as a side project for both of us, eventually became our main priority. We started practicing, writing music, and playing lots of shows. We said yes to every gig we were offered and just kept working on new material.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We started writing music at the end of 2019, and by the time we were ready to start playing live, the lockdown happened. So that was the biggest setback for us. Other than that, just the normal ups and down of life.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We play original rock’n’roll music with blues influences. We specialize in being a two-piece that can really get loud and fill up a room. The biggest thing that sets us apart is that we aren’t afraid to admit who and what our inspirations are. We put a lot of time into practicing and making sure everything is tight, but we also aren’t afraid to push new boundaries when it comes to writing and performing. Right now, we’re most proud of our debut album, “Safety Coffin,” which will be out everywhere on July 28th. The whole process was diy. Every song was live-tracked in Quinn’s spare bedroom. We worked very hard on this project and can’t wait to share it with everyone.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
Don’t be afraid to try new things. Be yourself! Find your sound, practice and get out there and play as many gigs as you can.
