Vedant Kothari

Hi Vedant, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My Journey in the World of Automotive Photography and Videography

Greetings,

I am Vedant Kothari, an Automotive Photographer and Videographer, and I am delighted to share my journey with you. Although my age is a mere 21 years, my story has been an intriguing one.

My innate passion for storytelling has remained constant throughout my life, evolving through various artistic mediums over the years. I experimented with writing, painting, and even sculpting, but it was the world of digitally created photographs that truly captured my imagination. In 2017, I embarked on a journey of crafting visually arresting creations that defied conventional norms, and I began showcasing my work at local art events. It was during this time that I stumbled upon the profound influence of social media, which played a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of my career.

In the year 2018, I transformed my Instagram art page, @pnikau, from insignificance to a thriving community of 60,000 followers. This experience illuminated the incredible power of social media on a global scale as international brands began to recognize my prowess in marketing and entrusted their products to me.

As my career matured, I transitioned from a creative role to the realm of business. In late 2018, I co-founded a social media marketing agency with strategic partners located around the world. Although our initial intent was not to scale the business extensively, it served as a means to generate short-term cash flow while I nurtured a grander vision in the background. By the close of 2020, our agency had generated over $180,000 in revenue, yet this period also revealed the harsh reality of creative burnout.

The year 2021 stands as a pivotal chapter in my life, marked by moments of introspection and transformation. Burnout, an indescribable sensation, compelled me to reevaluate my priorities. For the first six months, I found myself neglecting my SCAD classes and turning away from paid assignments. The adversity took a toll on my mental health and mindset, though it also opened doors to unforeseen opportunities. My extensive networking efforts culminated in collaborations with esteemed entities such as BMW, Audi, Mercedes, as well as prominent publications like Evo India, Top Gear India, and Cosmopolitan. I undertook advertising campaigns for distinguished brands, including Bvlgari, Dyson, Asics, Glenmorangie, among others.

And now, we arrive at the present moment.

In 2018, I harbored an ambitious idea, one that required substantial capital to bring to fruition—a platform for the world’s most creative artists, encompassing everything from clothing to digital assets. In July 2023, after relentless dedication and effort, my team and I unveiled Fallacie Apparel.

Our core mission in a world that often stifles those who dare to challenge societal norms and express their creative essence is to provide a sanctuary where individuals can unleash their ideas without fear of judgment, allowing their freest, wildest, and most authentic creativity to flourish. Fallacie aims to be a haven for the world’s most imaginative artists.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Having grown up in a country where Art is not seen as a viable career choice, I’ve had many struggles to convince those around me to not hamper my growth. For the longest time before starting one of my businesses, I struggled to secure even a short-term loan of a few hundred dollars. It takes time, strength, and energy to find someone willing to bet on you, and even after that, the struggles just begin to pile up.

Today, I am a full-time college student, running a full-fledged business with a team of 8 people under my direct supervision and freelancing to generate contacts and revenue. The workload in itself should be enough to kill a person, but I keep going onwards.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.

At the moment of this article, we have just released a line of oversized Tee and are moving forward at an amazing rate to bring forward other articles of clothing. We don’t want to be a generic streetwear brand that gets lost in the mix. We have gone forward and made everything from scratch; we can confidently challenge brands all around the world in terms of print and manufacturing quality. We want to forward products that challenge the word that is clothing; we have recently moved forward to manufacture products that are yet to be named by our society.

My personal mission with this brand is to reach a level where any capable artist should never have to worry about funding to execute their ideas. As children, we were taught that the sky is the limit of our imagination; my goal is to turn that into a reality.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding a Mentor for me was always the hardest thing; looking around, I saw many people who found themselves a guide, someone to lead them onwards. Sadly, I struggled to find someone who would fulfill the bare minimum of not shitting my ideas.

While I never had an actual mentor, a lot of people in the digital art community have done their best to push me to move forward, and they have my utmost respect.
