Hi Kirsten, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I graduated from The University of Central Florida with my degree in Business Administration. I have always known I wanted to own my own business and opened up a clothing boutique in 2022 Wild Colt. After operating this for nearly a year, I realized the demand for high-quality custom-made apparel and invested in the needed equipment to begin my custom apparel business, Coastal Printing. I use state-of-the-art DTG equipment that allows you to print the smallest details in photographs and designs with vibrant colors that you are not able to do with the old-school screen printing.
To kickstart Coastal, I reached out to schools, local businesses, and event organizers, offering them my services. With my dedication and commitment to quality, Coastal Printing has been flourishing in just the short 6 months since opening in May 2023, and we are enthusiastic to keep growing!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
DTG printing is a newer concept; most custom apparel services out there are still using the old-school screen-printing methods. DTG has been successful for me because there is no minimum requirement, unlike most screen-printing services. There was a little bit of a challenge introducing this new concept to businesses that have always ordered from screen printers, but almost all have said they will never go back to screen printing after using our DTG services because of the higher quality as well as the no minimum requirements for their orders!
