Exploring Life & Business with Michelle Grasso of Glass Slipper Concierge – GSC World Travel, a Virtuoso member agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Grasso.

Michelle Grasso

Hi Michelle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After I graduated from Jenkins High School in 1994, I attended George Washington University for 2 years then transfered to Mercer University. I graduated from Mercer in 1998 with a degree in Political Science. The first 10-15 years of my career were in politics. I worked in Washington, DC, Savannah, and Atlanta doing communications and media relations for politicians. I worked for a U.S Representative, 3 U.S. Senators, worked in 2 statewide U.S. Senate campaigns, and at the Georgia House of Representatives. When we became foster parents to our youngest son, I decided to not work outside of the home for a period of time which turned into 10 years. During that period, we began traveling more and working with a travel advisor. When I decided to go back to work full-time outside the home, I considered many options, but my love of travel was a huge reason I decided to help others with their travel plans. People today are overwhelmed with their travel choices – so many destinations, so many resorts – it can be so overwhelming! Through my agency (Glass Slipper Concierge; GSC World Travel – a Virtuoso Member Agency), I have a network of trusted partners and colleagues all over the world. I leverage this network to find the best location and the best hotel or resort to build the best vacation for my clients – all stress-free on their end!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I first began, there was a lot to learn, and there is always more to learn. As a small business owner, I had to learn accounting best practices, and I have to manage my time to work on the business not just in the business! I have to stay on top of current events, travel restrictions, weather disturbances, political disturbances – anything that could derail a trip my client is taking. Travel is not without its unexpected complications – yet another reason my clients use my services. I had a client getting ready to go to Israel when the war started. I had to cancel all her plans and get her refunds – but I did that. I monitored the situation, talked to trusted partners in the area, and took care of all the details.

I have sought out great professional development to help me along the way. Last year, I completed the Virtuoso Certified Travel Advisor course, and I have other courses on the horizon for this year that will help me as I continue to grow my business and look for ways to improve how I serve my clients.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Glass Slipper Concierge specializes in luxury Disney vacations! I help my clients with visits to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney, and Disneyland Paris.
