Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Wallerson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a Folk Herbalist and also a Certified Yoga Instructor trained in ‘Hatha Yoga’ and specializing in ‘Gentle Yoga’. I began my holistic wellness and spiritual journey over 10 years ago before I even moved to Georgia. When I still resided in New Jersey I suffered from a miscarriage in 2012, with little to no explanation or real care from standard American doctors, I began to take my health and family’s into my own hands.
I started doing tons of research on our food, pharmaceutical drugs, and just our general way of living. I implemented a more natural holistic way of living (eating from the earth, taking herbs, going outdoors more, yoga, and removing processed foods from our diet) and with that, I also found the door to my own spirituality.
I began creating natural remedies for my family, focused on a natural Whole Foods diet, and really started most of this in my kitchen. For a short time, I even catered a few events focusing primarily on plant-based/vegan foods. I began taking more herbalism classes to help further my studies and knowledge of medicinal plants and their uses.
In 2020 EarthMama Apothecary was created! Around the same time, my husband and I began doing a lot of our own gardening, so we tried to grow most of the things we use for the Apothecary and what we use in the kitchen! We currently have a small clientele and we participate in the local market seasons that Savannah has here! I always post what markets EarthMama Apothecary will be at, if you’re looking to catch us locally in person otherwise we do ship also!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course not, but it’s all a learning process I don’t take for granted. The hardest part most of the time for me is being a creator and a business owner. Sometimes these two things are so wildly different it takes balance, my husband is really great at helping me out on the business side.
We’ve been impressed with EarthMama Apothecary, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
This line of products is special because they are my personal recipes that I use in my own kitchen, home, for family, and for myself! A lot of times our everyday lives can feel mundane, I infused magic and intention into items we use every day to make your daily rituals more purposeful! I specialize in creating all-natural plant tinctures, teas, herbal botanicals, and herbal botanical skincare.
All products are organic handcrafted, charged, and blessed by me! Products begin to vary based on the change of seasons and locally grown herbs available. I’d like to think the intention time and love I put into it is what sets it apart. I make everything in small batches and slowly infuse most of my oils!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Believing in yourself, believing in your creations and what you have to offer the world.
