Today, we’d like to introduce you to Delta Xi Chapter.
Hello Delta Xi Chapter, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
On January 26th, 2014, the Delta Xi chapter of Sigma Beta Xi Sorority, Inc. in Savannah, GA was charted. It was charted just as the sorority was created; with the mother in mind. Sigma Beta Xi Sorority, Inc. caters to the wants and needs of mothers. There have been several lines of women to carry the torch and vision of our founders.
The promotion of higher education, self-improvement, and community service are just a few of the principles the sorority stands by. Within the 10 years of this chapter, there have been over 7000 logged community service hours among all women who have crossed within this chapter. Today, Delta Xi remains indestructible and continues to cater to the Savannah community.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The foundation of sisterhood begins as soon as you show interest in Sigma Beta Xi. If given the opportunity to go through the process of being a lady of Sigma Beta Xi, you learn about sisterhood. You learn to mesh with women who could be as similar or different as you. You move as one.
The struggle for Delta Xi has been knowing how to navigate and take all the ideas as many women and move as a unit. The Delta Xi Chapter has remained resilient and indestructible for the last 10 years and plans to for many more years to come.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We pride ourselves on community service throughout our city. Whether it’s packing brown bags at America’s Second Harvest to making lasagna for Lasagna Love and feeding tent city. One of our proudest moments was orchestrating a sock drive and collecting over 1200 pairs of socks to donate to Union Mission, SAFE Shelter, and local shelters. What sets us apart is we can easily write the check for a donation, but we find it more fulfilling to be on the frontlines giving back face to face.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
The founders of Sigma Beta Xi Sorority, Inc. deserve credit first and foremost. Without their vision, there would not be a Delta Xi Chapter of Sigma Beta Xi Sorority, Inc. The many sorors across the country have continued to show support for whatever cause we may have. Those in our local community as well have helped by asking for our support for whatever community outreach is needed.
