Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Lord
Hi Jason, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story goes very simple now that I look back. I was raised in a beautiful country named Costa Rica. Lived there pretty much till I was 10. I got to grow around some of the most beautiful colors visible by light. From there, moved on to Las Vegas where I attended school.
The desert treated me well. Crazy colors and beautiful peaks all around. I started to find comfort in the quiet desert and fun in the nights. Had a very rowdy youth, but everyone was fine. It was just another way to make time pass by. Some people found comfort in being at home. I did by running around with others around casinos and loitering as long as we could outside. It just felt like I never stopped having fun.
At some point my friends online got bored of designing like we did and picked up cameras. So I did and that was the start of it. Other than that, I’ve always been a fashion fan and enjoyer of colors. Just can’t personally imagine colors on myself. Oh… I also did logos for a bit.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My share of struggles generally came from my time moving. Immigrating to America was hard in some ways. I understood that I had to become a different version of myself and I took on another name from my original. It was a new beginning in a way, but I think everyone should enjoy a clean slate once in a while. It’s refreshing.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My primary focus is Fashion Photography and various types of Commercial work. At SCAD, I’ve been collaborating closely with fashion students, capturing the distinctive faces that bring their identities to life. Collaboration is incredibly gratifying. I continue to work with diverse and abstract ideas in my photo projects to deliver work that is both creatively marketable and artistically engaging.
What does success mean to you?
I don’t equate success to a certain thing. It’s more goals of achievement. What makes you happy I guess..
Personally, my pursuit is to do more fashion work in the future.
