Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhoda Gordon
Hi Rhoda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a Certified Photo Manager and founder of Sunflower Photo Solutions, and also an electrical engineer, wife and mom. Photography is in my blood, coming from a long line of photo enthusiasts, going back over two generations on my father’s side. I have been organizing media, helping individuals, families and businesses SAVE THEIR STORY for over 9 years.
I am passionate about helping others preserve precious memories in a way they can revisit them again and again. My services include digital media organizing and backup, print photo organizing, print, negative, and slide digitization, coaching, quarterly maintenance and speaking on all things related to photo management and travel.
I know everyone wants to get their photos in shape! My clients did too but they were overwhelmed, frustrated and did not know where to turn, until they found me. I was struggling to develop a way to empower everyone to organize their own photos and save their story. That is why I created DIG YOUR PHOTOS!, a print photo organizing kit. DIG YOUR PHOTOS!, will set you up for success and build confidence to execute the process of organizing your photos. DIG YOUR PHOTOS! provides the tools and structure for any novice to organize their own photos. This can be a group activity, fun for the whole family or this kit can be used solo to organize an entire collection. The process is exactly the same. The one thing that is guaranteed is it will bring your family together and SAVE YOUR STORY.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been struggles that are tied with creating and growing a business from trying to get the word out to understanding my ideal client to the actual issues with working with media collections. When I meet a new client I never know the condition of their media, it may be pristine or it may have been stored improperly and in need of restoration or remediation (mold). The same goes for digital media, most people do not know where all their digital photos are and have to think long and hard about all the cloud services they have signed up for over the years, as well as where all their digital snaps may be hiding: memory cards, old cameras, old phones, and old computers. Every family is unique and so is their story, as well as, the ways they have documented that story. Each time a meet a new client, it is a totally new project with unique goals. I worked diligently to create workflows that are modular so I can create specific ways of working with each client, without reinventing the wheel each time.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a woman owned business working with individuals, families and businesses to save their story by paring down, organizing and backing up their print and digital media collection. I also digitize all print media and create beautiful family websites. One of my favorite service is to curate beautiful photo books and albums, whether for a wedding, newborn photo shoot, or vacation, I put thought and creativity into each step of the process. I recently launched a product to fill a true gap in the market, DIG YOUR PHOTOS!, a print photo organizing kit. DIG YOUR PHOTOS! has everything a person needs to organize their own print photos: tools, step-by-step instructions with video support, templates and temporary storage box. DIG YOUR PHOTOS! turns a dreaded chore into a fun and easy activity.
