Meet Brittanae Robinson of Savannah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittanae Robinson

Hi Brittanae, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Well, I’m attending Empire Beauty School in Savannah and I have always had a passion for cosmetology and owning my own business. I wanted to start my business at 16,but I wasn’t sure if I was doing the right thing at the time, so I decided to wait till I graduated from Savannah High School which was this year back in May and I wanted to help teach women, girls, boys and men how to take care of their natural hair and what products goes best for their hair type and texture. I’m starting up my business while in beauty school to help others feel beautiful and confident inside and out. I want to help make a difference and help to see beautiful smiles and happiness in other’s faces. If it wasn’t for my mom, my brothers and sisters, my nana, my aunt’s and uncles, cousins and members of my church supporting me to follow my dreams, then I probably wouldn’t be the young lady that I am today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are some struggles, but the first thing people should do before starting up a business is to do their research, see what you need to do before trying to launch your business off the ground. I’m doing my research to see what license or what federal or state taxes I need to do and how much money does it cost to start or launch my business from the ground up. But, always remember to stay positive and continue to uplift yourself with positivity and not negativity.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m starting my own hair business, helping to teach others how to care for their natural hair and while their natural hair is in protective styles. I want to be leader in my community and to teach young kids to work hard and watch their dreams come true with the work and dedication they put into accomplishing their hopes and dreams.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is me waiting for my nana to come home from work to curl up her hair. My nana was a patient caretaker at St. Joseph’s hospital for 30 years before she retired in 2016. My family saw my passion for cosmetology at a young age, I was four or five at the time, and I started to realize that passion of mine and how I wanted to make it my career.
