Today we’d like to introduce you to Author Ebony Q
Author Ebony Q, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Since childhood I’ve loved to read and would do so often, especially during the Summer. As an adult, I began reading Urban Fiction and Contemporary African-American Fiction. I was instantly hooked because I was drawn to the realness and relatability of the stories and characters. I enjoyed how the stories pulled me in and made me feel as if I were there alongside the characters. Supporting the author journeys of women I knew inspired me to begin writing. My stories are contemporary, with relatable characters who experience real life situations. I write the type of stories I like to read. My author journey has been nothing short of amazing with countless blessings. There’s so much more in store for me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest challenge as an independent self-published author is getting exposure to my work. I use book signings and book festivals, social media, my website and word of mouth to assist with this. Other challenges include operating within my budget as an indie author. Additionally, as an author entrepreneur, I’m responsible for everything. It’s important to be organized and disciplined, to complete tasks without becoming overwhelmed. I prioritize writing, none of the related tasks will come before writing.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an author. I write Urban Fiction and Contemporary African-American Fiction. I specialize in writing candid stories that evoke emotions in my readers while exploring complex situations. Each of my stories are inspired by real life and contains an underlying cautionary tale. I’m proud of my ability to craft fictional stories that highlight everyday experiences. My stories stand out because of my characters; they seem real, like someone you know, flaws and all.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I enjoyed doing things alone, like reading or writing poetry. I also enjoyed spending time with others. My friends and I would often go roller skating or hang out at the mall. We’d also sing and dance along to our favorite songs on the radio. My family and I would play board games and card games like UNO. We’d also regularly go to the movies. I was known for being friendly, responsible, helpful, a fast learner and a hard worker. All my life I’ve loved to talk; it runs in the family. In school, sometimes I’d get in trouble for being talkative.
