Today we’d like to introduce you to Nigeria Cooper
Hi Nigeria, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Nigeria Cooper, and my journey began with a simple goal: to create a business that would not only benefit me but also provide for my family’s future. I am a proud mother of seven—five girls and two boys—and leaving behind a legacy for them is everything to me. I started my tax business in my living room in Waynesboro GA, while working as a Lieutenant at Plant Vogtle. At the time, the income was decent, but I knew it wasn’t enough to build the kind of legacy I envisioned. I began by charging just ten dollars to attract clients, and today, that same business has grown into a seven-figure enterprise.
My journey has been about more than just financial success; it’s about creating opportunities for my family and ensuring that I leave something meaningful behind for my children.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey hasn’t been a smooth road especially without a team, when I first started it was the clients job to come back to pay me lets just say.. everybody didnt come back. But that didn’t stop me and I’m glad it didn’t. The Tax industry is a constant changing environment and you have to keep up or you will be left behind.
We’ve been impressed with Notoriety Taxes and More, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is a Tax business I specialize in preparing returns, amending returns, loan signing agent and I’m a notary. I’m known for being honest, fast and trustworthy. I also host a lot of events for my community out of my pocket. I have had serval book bags and school supplies giveaways, plate giveaways and Halloween parties for the kids. I want readers to know that filing taxes is not just about the money but also about the knowledge one wrong mistake you can be owing the IRS thousands. I want them to know that seeking a preparer who is not just knowledgeable but also trustworthy.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice to anyone coming in the industry is don’t rush success, you may start off with ten clients like me but stay motivated! Stay true to you, keep yourself updated on new tax laws, keep your ptin renewed every year and provide honest returns they will take you further. Staying on top of tax laws has helped me, by knowing the answers to any of my clients questions had also helped me.
