Hidden Gems: Meet Samantha Howarth of The Way She Was Made

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Howarth

Hi Samantha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Sam – I am originally from North East Pennsylvania and I moved to Savannah in 2013 when I attended the Savannah College of Art and Design. I graduated from SCAD with a degree in Graphic Design & Advertising in 2016 and proceeded to start working at Gulfstream Aerospace shortly after in the marketing department. Within a year of working there, I was asked to join the small team that would become the Global Gifting & Merchandising Department within the company. Over my 5 years there I had the honor to work on many amazing projects including designing custom gifts for some of the most elite customers using materials from the actual aircraft that they were purchasing. One that I will never forget was working with world renowned guitar manufacturer Randy Wood to build custom guitars from the aircraft materials. Although there were some amazing times at Gulfstream I felt like I was called to something more and was inspired to begin building my own business. As I went on a journey of self discovery to find where my true passion lied, I also worked as a wedding & event manager for a local luxury design firm among other creative positions supporting small businesses. Through this journey I admittedly over worked myself and started to experience what I now know was adrenal fatigue. I pushed myself to do more, do better and continued to pursue my passions in addition to working in many different areas. After learning about functional medicine from a doctor that I followed on social media and listened to his podcasts, I knew I needed to reach out. My doctors previously had told me that everything was fine, my test results looked good yet with brain fog, unexplained rashes, inability to sleep yet feeling overly exhausted and being able to take way too much pre-workout and still feel tired – I knew I needed help. With just two tests, my functional doctor told me that I was suffering from phase 3 adrenal fatigue where my hormones went completely post-menopausal by the time I was 27 and celiac disease which explained the rashes I had most of my life. My journey with functional medicine inspired me to overhaul my lifestyle to be completely holistic. I wanted to go all in and learn as much as I could about natural remedies, teas, hormone balance, gut health and beyond. To teach myself all about holistic living I decided to become certified as a holistic health coach through IIN (The Institute of Integrative Nutrition). This is where I started to see myself really change my perspective on being an entrepreneur and finding my purpose of helping other high-performing entrepreneurial women build their businesses without suffering from burnout like I had. Through all of these pieces along the way I learned about human design, astrology and cycle syncing. I understood myself in a way that I never thought possible. As I healed my body and learned more, I began to become more intuitive as well in understanding myself and others that I worked with. Today, I am the founder of The Way She Was Made and I am an Intuitive Coach & Brand Strategist for visionary women guiding them to stop playing small and build brand and business strategies that are aligned to their unique design and cycle. I help these women holistically to create not just brands but full systems, signature offers, and routines for their life and business. We attach our identities to our business so much that when we are asked “tell me about yourself” we often start with “I’m a designer, artist, coach etc.” but we are so much more than that. By learning your design and using yourself as the strategy, we can build businesses that truly reflect us and help support us in living our full purpose. The Way She Was Made brings women back to how we were made and designed to be at the foundation.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
(I shared a lot of detail in my story that can be pulled from as well but for the highlights) – Entrepreneurship is never usually an easy ride. To make it meaningful and “turn your mess into your message” you often have to go through some trials. For me, one of the most confusing and hardest times in my life of trying to figure out who I was by leaving behind the life of what I “Should” be doing (ie. getting married, having a corporate job etc.) and really for the first time in my life asking myself what I wanted. After getting divorced young and leaving the corporate world, it was hard. I took a MASSIVE pay cut and had to start fresh and that started with understanding my self worth and then figuring out what lit me up.

The healing journey for me was necessary even though being high-achieving it was really hard to accept at times that the inner work is what I needed to focus on in order to get myself to the nest step it was so worth it seeing where I am at and how far i have come. Being 27 and having your hormones read as if you were 72 was very eye opening to me. We all hear “stress is bad, it’ll make you age etc.” but until something like that happens you don’t understand the full effects of stress and how it really tears your body down. One of the most frustrating things during that time was not being able to be “high performing” to the standards that I thought I should. I needed to prioritize rest, invest in supplements and healing and not continue to push myself while there were outside pressures from everywhere about what I SHOULD be doing.

We’ve been impressed with The Way She Was Made , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a solopreneur currently just me, myself & I! I started out doing mostly design & creative services for entrepreneurs specifically in the wellness space. Through my journey I kept feeling like there was something more there so I started to add in bits and pieces of coaching & mentorship utilizing human design, astrology and cycle syncing.

My latest program that I have developed is called the Feminine Flow Framework – It is a 1:1 coaching program that offers 3-9 months of strategic coaching & implementation of systems and strategies that help visionary women not just build a brand but build a brand foundation that is sustainable and aligned with their highest expression of themselves. We start with human design & astrology deep dive to understand your blocks & patterns keeping you stuck. We then rework your brand, brand identity, messaging etc. to align with the highest expression of yourself and your purpose. We also build a signature offer / offer suite and refine your methodology to help you stand out in the market and redefine your business identity. I also offer different levels of support in helping to build systems out to help you automate, launch and run your business seamlessly (ie. building out courses, developing curriculum, landing pages, brand design, CRM systems and beyond)!

I am known for: Intuitive marketing, human design integration, cycle syncing – creating systems that are holistically implemented into your business to help you not burnout. I have been called the “burnout recovery queen in business” haha

What sets me apart: I don’t just do marketing or offer one-off services. I also don’t create one-size-fits-all strategies – each of the strategies and brands that I help develop are created specifically for you based on your unique design. Because of my approach, my ideal client is women who are high-performing and who value an approach that is holistic. It isn’t a short term fix or a get rich quick marketing strategy, it is a foundation for long term growth & expansion rooted in authenticity.

I am most proud of – my personalization and ability to help women to stop playing small and see themselves both as people and in their business at a higher potential than they often times have thought possible. My ideal clients are successful, they have worked in the corporate world or have seen success throughout their lives but are looking for more, more purpose, looking to make a change in the world. I am proud to be even a small piece of helping them get there and gain the confidence to do that in a way that is sustainable and authentic.

What do I want the readers to know about my brand offerings & services: I am not just local to Savannah ( I am here and happy to work in person with clients) But I am also virtual! I can work with clients from wherever and help them along their journey. I offer one of strategy sessions through full 1:1 coaching support to help you where you are at. I am in the process as well of launching a couple of courses and this spring I am opening up a monthly membership for support including group coaching sessions, hot seat coaching, TONS of resources & support for marketing, monthly workshops with myself and other amazing talented experts (be on the look out for this end of March / Beginning of April). If you are curious about learning more I also have a free community & collaboration group and free monthly connection call ( Soul Sync Sessions) where we get together from all over virtually and connect and just have conversations about celebrating what we have accomplished, supporting other women and sharing our stories. I do also occasionally host local workshops and events in Savannah as well as collaborations so I am always excited to connect with others and brainstorm & collaborate.

I am also super excited to be offering my first all inclusive Soulstice Rising luxury retreat in the Dunton Hot Springs in Colorado this summer June 20th -24th. This is an immersive experience and reset for your mind, body, soul & business. As a part of this retreat you will get a full marketing and brand update as well including a brand photo shoot (head shots and shots of you sharing your gifts with the group) and professional videography as well including social media footage and a brand video for your marketing materials. I will also be giving 1:1 human design coaching, immersive sensory breakthrough sessions, full brand audits and strategy sessions throughout the retreat as well! All of this in a reclaimed ghost town nestled in the Colorado Mountains over the summer solstice.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was very quiet. I am the oldest of 3 kids and have a younger brother & sister. I was always shy and never one to speak up about what I wanted. I was quiet in school and was always the one the teach put next to the “talkative” students because they knew I wouldn’t chat with them or cause trouble. I often helped other students to with their school work. I was really focused on getting good grades (always high performing) and my happy place was in the art room. I grew up near the Deleware Water Gap and spent weekends and the summers on the water boating (still love the water today). Dogs and animals have always been a huge part of my life and still are. I feel like dogs are just little angels on earth – they love so purely and I always felt safe around them. To this day I love being around dogs and actively work with rescues to get dogs into loving homes! My dream is still to have a farm / land with a holistic healing center for abused animals and to host retreats for people to heal holistically as well!
