Daily Inspiration: Meet Caroline Crosby

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Crosby

Hi Caroline , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been a licensed cosmetologist since 2012, and my journey into the beauty industry began at my great aunt’s salon in Savannah. It was there that I first discovered my passion for transforming people’s confidence through beauty. While working in the salon, I also pursued a business degree to help me understand the ins and outs of running a successful business.

Over the years, I worked at a few different salons, learning new techniques, building my skills, and developing a deep connection with the people I served. But in 2020, I decided it was time to take the leap and open my own salon, Dolled Up. Little did I know, my timing would coincide with the onset of COVID, and I was immediately met with a nationwide shutdown.

Despite the challenges, I persevered. As soon as salons were allowed to open back up, my business was busier than ever. The demand for beauty services soared, and I was fortunate to have such a strong clientele base. A big part of my success has come from building lasting relationships with my clients—word of mouth has been a driving force in sustaining and growing my business.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without the incredible support of my community. I am blessed and honored every single day I walk into my studio, knowing that the people around me have helped me get to this point. Every client that chooses to sit in my chair or entrusts me with their special moments, like their wedding day, is a reminder of why I do what I do.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Despite my success, it definitely has not been a smooth road. Opening a salon right before a nationwide shutdown due to the pandemic was not what I had in mind. The initial closure and uncertain reopening times tested my business from the start. Despite the setbacks, I was able to bounce back. However, rebuilding and regaining trust from clients was not an overnight process, requiring extra effort to prove my commitment to their safety, satisfaction, and overall salon experience.
In order to remain competitive in this market, I have to consistently offer exceptional service, and set myself apart by focusing on quality. Staying ahead of trends, learning new techniques, and offering the best products at competitive prices helps ensure clients return.
Social media is another struggle. It has become a vital tool for growth, but it demands constant time, expertise, and effort. Balancing time spent in the salon with creating meaningful content, managing social media platforms, and maintaining a website is a constant juggling act..

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
