Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Cristadoro.
Hi Olivia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always known I wanted to pursue art. Only recently I narrowed it down to visual development. I had worked on my skills on my own until I narrowed down a possible school. After touring SCAD I knew it would be a perfect fit. I’ve been utilizing both school resources and my own research to look for opportunities. So far I’m on a few projects and those experiences really helped me know that this is exactly what I hope to do as a career.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
While I was developing my skills often times I’d compare my work to others. Even at the beginning of my schooling I had that problem. Plus getting by used to more demanding deadlines and learning new softwares I have never touched before. But mainly it was that subconscious comparison that I kept applying to my work.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I absolutely love to draw characters! Anything relating to them. I’ve been loving the process of creating characters a lot, and recently started to get into designing props and environments. I’m probably most known for my final illustrations. I’m most proud of a lot of my work from this year. I think I finally narrowed down on my style and process with my visual vocabulary. For what sets me apart, I’ve been told by many of my friends that I’m very fast with my work, which has to be another thing I’m very proud of.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I absolutely love the aesthetic of Savannah. But I’ve been really enjoying how walkable it is. I live in New York, about an hour by train from the city, so being able to walk to most of the places I need to go has been great. Especially since I don’t have a car.
I don’t think there’s much complaints about Savannah for me.
