Today we’d like to introduce you to Lizzie Eaton.
Hi Lizzie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had a deep passion for food, growing up always eager to try new dishes with very few aversions. In high school, one of my favorite teachers frequently shared stories about her garden, showcasing the vegetables and fruits she grew, along with the dishes she created. Inspired by her, I collaborated with classmates to create an Instagram account, “Websters Dishes,” to showcase her culinary creations. While the garden content eventually slowed down, I continued to use it as a platform to share photos of the food I encountered during my travels and at home.
Over time, I became more serious about my food content, especially after an internship with a social media management company. The experience motivated me to apply my newfound skills, leading me to host giveaways with local restaurants, which significantly increased engagement on my page. I also rebranded to “Lizzie’s Eats,” which allowed me to feel more connected to my content and create with greater passion, while still honoring my roots.
Today, I’ve expanded to TikTok, where I share video content of the new foods and places I explore, while continuing to refine my cooking skills. The support from my community has been a driving force, empowering me to follow my passion for food and content creation.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
While there have been some struggles along the way, they have mostly been valuable learning experiences. One of the biggest hurdles has been maintaining consistency. Balancing high school, college, and now a full-time job made it difficult to prioritize content creation. I’ve since realized how important it is to not let my passions take a backseat to life’s demands. I want to create because I enjoy it, not because it feels like a chore. With that, I have tried to find segments in the food & content world that I love, like actually baking desserts or cooking new & healthy recipes.
Another ongoing challenge is finding my niche in the oversaturated world of food content creation. However, I see this as an opportunity to explore new foods and experiences I might not have considered otherwise.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Since graduating from Florida State University in May of 2023, I began my career at a Fortune 500 company where I’ve had the opportunity of exercising my creative skills and business acumen. As a customer experience professional, I enjoy leading specialized trainings for customer service based on the grounds of empathy. Understanding the needs of our customers and how we build success around valuing their feedback continues to inspire my approach in driving growth, rooted in authenticity and collaboration.
I enjoy working with different expertise in the business, connecting with both internal and external customers, and getting first-hand experience at what it means to drive meaningful change.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I don’t consider myself a risk-taker; however, putting yourself out there requires a different level of confidence that changes how we view uncertainty. Throughout my life, I’ve often feared change and the unknown, yet some of my most impactful experiences have come from embracing them.
One of the biggest changes I made was moving to Atlanta just a month after graduating college. Although I had interned here the summer before, this move felt much more permanent. I would officially be an adult with real responsibilities, adjusting to a new city and a full-time corporate job. But looking back, it ended up being one of the greatest decisions I ever made! I love my job, the people I work with, and the friends I’ve made & reconnected with since moving here.
Starting my social media page was another step outside my comfort zone, especially because I was nervous about how others would perceive me. Social media can be harsh, and sharing my opinions and ideas made me feel vulnerable. But I knew that embracing authenticity and honesty was the best way to approach this new journey. It was uncomfortable at times, but I knew it was something worth pursuing. The content I create reaches people I’ve never met, so I had to ask myself: how can I make it meaningful to them? I’m also still learning to manage expectations – that not all content will succeed or get the engagement I think it deserves.
As I continue to grow in this space, I see the importance of staying informed about trends and current events in both the digital world and the broader world around us. I aim to create content that is not only relevant but also adds positivity and personality to the online community. In the end, I’ve learned that perfection isn’t the goal – being authentic and true to myself is what matters most.
